Russia Invites China to Invest in Its Hospitality Sector, Envoy Says

Boris Titov added that a branch of the Russian National Center could also open at the Beijing exhibition center in the future.

Moscow, October 13. /TASS/. Russia has invited China to invest in its domestic hospitality infrastructure, jointly manage existing hotel chains and develop bilateral organized tourism, Russian Presidential Representative for Sustainable Development Goals Boris Titov told TASS on Tuesday.

This statement was made after the meeting of the Russian delegation of the Russia-China Friendship, Peace and Development Committee and the leadership of the Beijing State Tourism Group in Beijing.

"Our colleagues from the Tourism.RF corporate group suggested that their Chinese counterparts invest in Russian hotel facilities and jointly manage existing hotel networks," Titov said.

He noted that the plan aims to double the number of organized Chinese tourists within a year through wider outreach. Titov acknowledged that China is less familiar to Russian travelers than Turkey, while Chinese tourists are similarly unfamiliar with Russian destinations outside of Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Titov explained that Beijing Tourism Group is a large state-owned enterprise that operates in the accommodation, retail and entertainment sectors. "This includes the historic restaurant "Moscow" in Beijing. We have proposed closer cooperation in this place with prominent Russian restaurateurs, especially the Arkady Novikov group," he added, noting that a branch of the Russian National Center could also be opened in the Beijing Exhibition Center in the future.
