2026 Range Rover Sport Receives Type Approval / Technical Specifications of the Imported Luxury SUV

The 2026 Land Rover Range Rover Sport has received a temporary type-approval certificate, bringing its entry into the Iranian market one step closer. However, customs barriers and requirements for supplying luxury vehicles may still stand in the way of importing this SUV.

According to Ambassador Arjan, Rasa Motor Middle East Company has managed to receive a temporary type approval certificate for Land Rover Range Rover Sport model 2026. This car with a 3-liter six-cylinder engine, 48-volt mild hybrid technology and four-wheel drive system has received its initial license based on the GCC standard; However, the clearance and tariff conditions of luxury cars are still considered as possible obstacles to its supply in Iran.

Type approval status and registered specifications

Based on the information of the comprehensive management system of inspection and supervision of standards, the case of Range Rover Sport model 2026 has been registered with row 323. This car is in the M1 class and M.P.V type and its identification number is defined with the prefix SAL1A2BUTA. The certificate of conformity is issued based on the standard of the Persian Gulf countries, i.e. GCC, and is valid until January 1, 1405. The current license is of the temporary type approval type.

3 liter engine with mild hybrid technology

The mentioned Range Rover Sport is equipped with the PT306 engine from the Ingenium engine family. This six-cylinder in-line engine with an exact volume of 2,996 cc uses a twin-scroll turbocharger and a 48-volt electric supercharger. An electric supercharger is used to reduce turbo lag at low revs.

The MHEV mild hybrid system also uses a belt motor-generator to recover braking and deceleration energy and store it in a lithium-ion battery. This energy helps to improve engine performance and make the stop and go system smoother when restarting. The volume of engine oil is 8 liters.

This engine is available in two versions. The P360 model has a power of 355 horsepower and a torque of 500 Nm; While the P400 version produces more output with a power of 395 horsepower and a torque of 550 Nm. The combined fuel consumption of both versions is 10.7 liters per 100 kilometers.

Gearbox, four-wheel drive system and suspension

The engine power is transferred to the iAWD intelligent four-wheel drive system through an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. The Terrain Response 2 system provides the possibility to choose settings suitable for normal, sports, economic driving and off-road tracks such as mud, sand and rock.

The electronic air suspension with adaptive dampers adjusts the car's height according to road conditions and speed. This SUV is also equipped with four-wheel steering; A feature that reduces the turning radius at low speeds by turning the rear wheels in the opposite direction of the front axle and helps the car's stability at high speeds. Electronic active rear differential lock is also one of the other equipments of this section. Of course, the complexity of the air suspension system and its parts can have a higher maintenance cost than mechanical suspensions.

The position of PT306 among Range Rover sports engines

The PT306 engine is placed between the plug-in hybrid and eight-cylinder models of this car. The P460e and P550e plug-in hybrid versions use a three-liter engine along with an electric motor and a larger battery, and have the ability to travel all-electric up to 53 kilometers.

On the other hand, the P530 version with a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine produces 523 horsepower and about 750 Nm of torque. The combined fuel consumption of this model is 14.7 liters per 100 km. Compared to this engine, the version equipped with PT306 has lower fuel consumption and does not depend on the large battery and external charging required by plug-in hybrid models.

Receiving type approval does not mean the completion of all stages of the launch, and customs clearance and regulations for luxury cars, especially models with engines over 2,500 cc, can still affect the entry process of this car.

Rasa Motor Middle East has previously imported products from Suzuki and GAC brands; However, Range Rover Sport delivery requires a specialized service network, dedicated diagnostic equipment and supply of electronic parts. The lack of a direct link to Jaguar Land Rover's official service network may also make it more difficult for owners to access original parts and software updates.
