Hearing the guy say "Grand Theft Auto" at the end of the latest GTA 6 trailer gave me this feeling

Hey old friend, it's been a while

Earlier today, Rockstar Games released the trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6. It's a good trailer with some hot moments between Jason and Lucia. It also has a Grand Theft Auto tradition at the end: the same person saying the name of the game in a deep voice at the end.

On October 15, Rockstar released a new GTA 6 trailer that will likely be used heavily by Rockstar for advertising on TV and elsewhere. And so, unlike previous GTA 6 trailers, this one has a narrator at the end telling you the game's name and release date, as well as its ESRB rating. You can hear it below.

For all the old GTA fans, like myself, who grew up playing these games and get hyped for every new release, this sound is very comforting because we've heard it so many times before. Ever since Grand Theft Auto 3, every GTA intro trailer has seemingly featured the same person and his deep voice at the end. In the GTA 3 and Vice City trailers, Rockstar had yet to nail down the formula. But starting with San Andreas, the classic final narrative of "GRAND THEFT AUTO..." was fully developed.

Since then, the character and his voice have appeared in the launch trailers for Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, GTA IV, and GTA V. Rockstar also included this part of the narrative in the introduction trailers for Red Dead Redemption and RDR2.

From the moment I heard that familiar voice pop up at the end of the new GTA 6 trailer and say, "GRAND THEFT AUTO 6. COMING NOVEMBER 19. RATED M FOR MATURE" I was really struck by the nostalgia I felt. I felt like a critic of that famous ratatouille scene, suddenly transported to the past after taking a bite of the dish he loved as a child.

The moment I heard her voice in that new trailer, I was 13 again. I was watching something on my ridiculous little tv and saw an ad for the next GTA game come on and I heard the guy's voice. Rockstar only announces this person when the game is actually ready to go, so I was pretty excited every time I heard it when I was younger. If you were worried about last minute delays, don't be. A deep voice has assured us all that Grand Theft Auto 6 will hit the market on November 19th.
