Reed was the creator/executive producer of "Archer," while Willis was also an executive producer, while Yates was one of the show's main voice actors, playing Dr. Algernop Krieger and others. The trio also collaborated on Adult Swim's "The Happy Dingo." Popular in Variety

For Merrick and Trews, Reed, Willis and Yates will serve as co-creators and executive producers.

"Adam, Casey and Lucky are exceptional comedic talents that we've admired for years," said Amy Gravitt, HBO's executive vice president of programming, who oversees comedies for HBO and HBO Max. "We couldn't be more excited to partner with them to bring the completely original Merrick & Treves to HBO audiences."

Joel Bigliter of TFC Productions will also executive produce the show with Kelly Wu serving as co-producer.

In a joint statement, Reed, Willis and Yates said, "The three of us are thrilled to find a home for 'Merrick and Trews' at HBO." "We can't wait to work with the creative team behind so many of our favorite shows. It's really exciting now that we think about it.

If the name "Merrick & Trews" sounds familiar, it's because you might remember "The Elephant Man": Joseph Merrick is the name of a disfigured man who became famous after the show in the late 1800s, while Frederick Trews was a young doctor who cared for him at a London hospital.

"The Archer" ran for 14 seasons and 145 episodes between 2009 and 2023 on FX/FXX. The series won four Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Animated Program. Reed is also known for The Picker, The 2021 Flood, The 12-Ounce Mouse, and Robot Chicken. Willis is known for his voice acting roles in Frisky Dingo, Sealab 2021 and more before turning to producing. Yates' other works include "Exploding Kittens", "Cake" and "Hidden America With Jonah Ray".
