Harry Styles calls for "dignity and justice" after ICE shooting in New York

Harry Styles urges Madison Square Garden fans to show compassion and justice for Oscar Belgal after ICE shooting sparks protests in New York City

Foreign national who was shot by ICE has run into police

Harry Styles stopped his concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Saturday to address the shooting of a Dominican immigrant by federal immigration agents and to call on fans to show compassion for people of all backgrounds and demand "dignity" and "justice."

The British pop star was shot by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents on Thursday after pointing out Oscar Belgall, a 28-year-old man who was shot with his 5-year-old son in the back seat of his car.

"I just want us to take a moment tonight to think about Oscar Belgale, and I want us to think and remember to just look out for each other," Stiles said.

"So please continue to take care of each other," he continued. "And remember, your friends, the people you love, the people who are not like you and where you were born, deserve respect, and love, and dignity, and justice."

"It's the new black square on Instagram — speaking on ICE earns you respect in the art community and endless positive press," Tutu said. "I think the mainstream media has a lot more influence on public opinion. So does social media. Celebrities discussing issues like this? I don't think it moves the needle at all. We see the stars as separate from our everyday lives, so we might agree with them. Hot-button issues, but they don't win any conversions."

He suggested that entertainers in Hollywood face pressure to embrace political causes, while those who remain silent may be in a better position to avoid alienating fans.

"There is an expectation in celebrity circles that they will accept the goal of de Jourette. The benefits are clear and they are never held accountable when history does not align with their views. "I doubt stars who don't talk at all talk to their fans in the best possible way," Toto said.

Olivia Wilde has broken her silence on Harry Styles' fans and their wild reaction to their 10-year age gap romance.

Stiles' comments came as the shooting of Belgal sparked protests and criticism from New York officials, including Mayor Zahran Mamdani.

We know that ICE is rotten to the core. Today's shooting is just another destructive confirmation of what we have known for a long time..." Mamdani said.

Mamdani says even if he can get along with Trump, he still wants "the ice to be lifted."

Marcus Charles, a top ICE official, defended the shooting at a news conference Friday alongside Homeland Security Secretary Marquin Mullin, saying the officers believed their lives were in danger.

"Our officers exercised their training and fired their weapons in the belief that their lives, their partners and the general public were in danger," Charles said.

Officials said the officers were unaware Belgal's son was inside the car. The child was not injured.

The Department of Homeland Security said Belgal had a prior conviction for grand larceny and prior arrests for assault, robbery, drug possession and weapons possession. Federal authorities also claimed ties to the Trinitarius street gang.

A federal judge on Friday temporarily blocked Belgal's deportation while his legal challenge to his detention continues, and the New York Police Department released body camera footage showing the aftermath of the shooting.
