Trump ordered that sanctions against Russians not be imposed under the new law

These exceptions do not apply to other existing U.S. restrictions, the order says

Washington, October 17. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order saying that sanctions against several Russian individuals and companies will not apply under the Enhanced Anti-Russia Sanctions Act.

The order, which was published on the White House website on Friday, reads: "I waive the imposition of sanctions against foreign individuals and persons."

The law cited in the document deals with restrictions on senior Russian leadership and Russian legal entities, including banks.

These exceptions do not apply to other existing U.S. restrictions, the order says.

On September 18, Trump signed a bill passed by Congress that would tighten sanctions against Russia's top political and military leaders and state-owned companies. This law envisages a 500% increase in taxes for the supply of energy from Russia, as well as a 100% increase in the supply of resources from countries that are the main buyers of Russian energy.
