Trump ordered not to increase tariffs on Russian goods by 500%.
The decree does not specify how long these exceptions will be valid
Washington, October 17. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order not to increase tariffs on Russian goods by 500% under the Anti-Russia Sanctions Act.
Under the law, the tariffs would have to be "increased by 500 percent ad valorem," according to an order posted Friday on the White House website. Trump said that he would waive the duties provided for in the law.
The decree does not specify how long these exceptions will be valid. According to the document, the administration will notify the Trump administration of circumstances that may require further decisions to continue these exemptions.
On September 18, Trump signed a bill passed by Congress that would tighten US sanctions against top Russian political and military leaders and state-owned companies. The law imposes a 500 percent increase in tariffs on Russian energy supplies, as well as a 100 percent increase in supplies from countries that are Russia's main energy buyers.
