Moscow, October 15. /TASS/. Russia's international reserves fell by $9.7 billion during the week to $723.5 billion on October 9, 2026, the Central Bank of Russia said.
International reserves stood at $723.5 billion by the end of trading on Oct. 9, 2026, down $9.7 billion, or 1.3 percent, during the week, mainly due to negative revaluations, the regulator said.
Total reserves as of October 2 were $733.2 billion.
Russian international reserves are highly liquid foreign assets held by the Bank of Russia and the Russian government. They include foreign exchange, special drawing rights (SDRs), reserve positions at the International Monetary Fund, and monetary gold. After the start of Moscow's special military operation in Ukraine, Western countries imposed sanctions against the Russian bank. In addition to freezing Russian gold and foreign currency reserves, all transactions related to the management of the regulator's reserves and assets, as well as transactions with any legal entity, organization or body acting on behalf of or at the behest of the central bank, were prohibited.
