Film Retailer Zavvi Warns Customers Against Ordering From Its Website as It Enters Administration

Film retailer Zavvi has entered administration, a legal process similar to bankruptcy, and has warned customers not to place new orders.

Film retailer Zawi has entered administration, a legal concept similar to bankruptcy, and has warned customers not to place new orders.

Zavvi was an entertainment retailer, similar to FYE, in the UK in the late 2000s that closed all its physical stores. However, the brand survived through a website revered by collectors of physical media. Zavvi has long carried a large collection of Blu-ray and 4K movies, including popular stillbooks. Unfortunately, this website seems to be dying.

Zawi has announced that he will enter management. As a result, it can't fulfill backorders and pre-orders, and the company has told customers to talk to their banks to get their money back. Additionally, although the website is still active, the company is warning customers not to make any new purchases either.

Do you prefer to buy digital or physical film?

Management does not mean that Xavi will die forever. It is a process that attempts to give companies a path back to sustainability. However, it remains to be seen if this will happen for Xavi. If the company can't get out of this situation, it will be a blow to physical media lovers. The options for buying new Blu-rays and steelbooks have decreased drastically in the last six years or so. Major retailers like Target and Best Buy no longer sell the film in-store, and popular websites like Zavvi are now at risk of being discontinued.
