Individual Errors and Missed Chances: Al-Rayyah: Al-Gharafa Hands Points to Esteghlal

The Qatari newspaper Al-Rayyah, responding to Al-Gharafa's defeat against Esteghlal, identified individual errors and the squandering of easy scoring chances as the two main reasons for the host's failure.

According to "Varzeh Se", Esteghlal won its second match in the Asian Elite League and after defeating Al Sadd 3-0, this time it defeated Al-Gharafa at Thani Bin Jassim Stadium with a result of 2-1. Yaser Asani and Hossein Gudarzi scored the goals of Iran's representative, and the only goal of the host was scored by Farjani Sasi into Habib Farabbasi's goal.

The blue-skinned players won three points in this difficult match when the injuries of Amirmohammed Razzakinia and Yaser Asani changed Sohrab Bakhtiarizadeh's tactical plans. Esteghlal maintained its lead despite Al-Gharafa's pressure in the second half and continued its brilliant start in Asia with six points from two matches. Al-Gharafa also experienced its second consecutive defeat and remained without points.

After this match, Qatar Al-Rayeh newspaper published its report with the headline "Al-Gharafa lost points against Esteghlal" and wrote in its explanation: "Individual mistakes and missing easy opportunities cost the team heavily."

This newspaper said at the beginning of its report: "Al-Gharafa lost against Esteghlal Tehran with a result of 2-1 in their second match in the Asian Elite League on Monday night. The match that was held at the Thani Bin Jassim Stadium brought close competition between the two teams, but the Iranian team had a relative advantage and its players were able to take advantage of the individual mistakes and numerous injuries of the Gharafa players.

Al-Rayeh further wrote: "With this victory, Esteghlal took three points to Tehran and got six points, while Al-Gharafa remained without points. The Iranian team had a clear advantage in the first half and was able to end this half with an easy goal by Yasir Asani in the 37th minute. Asani entered the field as a substitute player after the injury of Amir Mohammad Razzaqinia.

This Qatari media wrote about the beginning of the second half: "The performance of Al-Foud improved noticeably at the beginning of the second half." Al-Gharafa players pressured Esteghlal in their own field and designed various attacks. They didn't need much time to equalize and in the 48th minute, Farjani Sassi used the ball that was placed in front of him with the intervention of Yasin Brahimi and Seido Sano and opened the Iranian team's goal with a direct shot.

In another part of this report, it is stated: "This goal disturbed Esteghlal's defense line and increased the motivation of Al-Gharafa players. Al-Foudh continued their attacks to score the winning goal, and the Iranian team retreated with all its lines to preserve the result.

Al-Rayeh went on to discuss Esteghlal's second goal and wrote: "When the spectators felt that Al-Gharafa's second goal was close, the mistakes were repeated again. Ayoub Al-Alawi gave a strange pass to Hossein Gudarzi, the player of Esteghlal, and he made a simple shot after advancing. "Ahmad Bashir Kune could not stop the ball and the shot entered the goal in a strange way to score the second goal of Esteghlal."

At the end of its report, the Qatari newspaper wrote: "Al-Foud missed several clear scoring opportunities in the final minutes." The most important opportunities included Hassan Aladdin's one-on-one, Farjani Sassi's powerful header and Ayoub Al-Alawi's shot when Esteghlal's goalkeeper was out, but all these opportunities were missed one after the other so that Al-Gharafa suffered another defeat with a score of 2-1.
