As previously reported, US President Donald Trump issued an executive order saying he would not impose a number of sanctions against Russia under the Enhanced Sanctions Act.

On September 18, Trump signed a bill passed by Congress that imposes sanctions on Russia's top political and military leadership, state-owned enterprises, as well as secondary sanctions on Russia's business partners. According to the document, within 30 days after the signing - or by October 18 - the US government must determine which companies and individuals may be subject to these restrictions or determine that such new restrictive measures are not in the interest of the United States and notify Congress.
