Philip Pratt, the former head of Amazon Germany who oversaw companies such as Maxton Hall, has moved to Disney+.

Pratt has taken on VP, lead production posts in Germany, Switzerland and Austria and will join Disney in early 2027 to oversee launches in the region, based out of Munich. He effectively replaces Benjamina Mirnik-Vegs, who is leaving.

Reporting to Head of EMEA Content, Angela Jane, she will support an international Disney commissioning team that plans to triple its number of original releases over the next three years. Previous Disney releases in Germany include Call My Agent Berlin, Jörg Winger's Sam – A Saxon and The Interpreter of Silence, while upcoming Austrian comedy Vienna, Nele Neuhaus thriller Monster and Swiss production Under the Ice. Pratt spent 11 years at Amazon's MGM Studios, where he was head of original production and worked on such hits as Maxton Hall – The World Between Us, the war film The Tank and the local version of LOL: Last One Laughing. Watch on Deadline

"Pratt's creative background and experience make him the perfect person to lead [Disney's] work across Germany, Switzerland and Austria, working with exceptional producers and talent. Create a slate that gets audiences talking," Jane said.

Pratt added, "I look forward to working with creative talent to bring stories to Disney Plus that entertain, resonate and reach millions of viewers across Germany, Switzerland, Austria and beyond. I envision Disney+ as a creative home where producers and talent come together, drive bold ideas and create extraordinary entertainment."

Pratt's hiring follows the recent appointment of My Brilliant Friend producer Sonia Rovi as VP of original production for Disney in Italy. Under CEO Josh Damaro, House of Mouse is looking to triple its international originals, and Jane has previously said she's been given more funding.
