The Chinese company Neodra Dynamics has unveiled the Neo1 humanoid robot. The 4-meter giant is designed for heavy industrial work and activities in dangerous environments.

According to Ambassador Arjan, the 4-meter Neo1 robot was introduced at the China International Industry Exhibition. In the structure of this giant robot, 39 joints are equipped with small digital hydraulic actuators, and the two rotating joints of the forearms use an electric actuator system.

This combination is the basis of Neo1 design. Hydraulic systems use fluid pressure to generate large amounts of force, while electric actuators are used for precise motion control. The manufacturer says that this combination allows the robot to move heavy loads and at the same time have high movement accuracy.

Moving cargo in ports, assembling heavy parts, mining operations and clearing debris in disaster areas are possible applications of Neo-1. Using in nuclear facilities and repairing underwater equipment is also in the list of goals of this company.

Hydraulic systems can generate a lot of power, and fluid pressure control, heat management, sealing, and control system complexity are some of their engineering challenges. The combination of hydraulic power with electric actuators is supposed to gather power and movement precision in a robot.

Introducing a robot with impressive technical specifications does not mean proving its readiness for industrial work. Independent evidence has yet to be published about the NEO1's durability in long-term work, its reliability in hazardous environments, and its ability to continuously perform heavy duty tasks.
