The case against Russell Brand came to court for the first time today, as prosecutors alleged that Oblivion star Sarah Marshall preyed on three women in the British TV and radio industry.

During evidence on Wednesday, barrister Riel Karmy-Jones detailed the allegations made by a total of six women, making seven charges against Brand.

This 51-year-old comedian and MAGA influencer is facing three counts of sexual assault, three charges of sexual assault and one charge of sexual assault. Brand has pleaded not guilty to all charges. In her opening argument, Carmi Jones accused Brand of being "sexy," "cruel" and "calculating" in an effort to satisfy her hunger for sexual activity. She said the brand "didn't care" who the women were or how it made them feel.

He told the court that the six women who had made the allegations against Brand did not know each other and had never met. He said they were approached after watching the documentary Russell Brand: In Plain Sight or reading allegations about Brand's behavior in 2023.

Women have a lifelong right to anonymity and their right to identity, despite being named in court, is subject to strict reporting restrictions. Below, Deadline details their claims, which span a 10-year period from 1999 to 2009.

Brand will present his defense later in court. The court was told Brand repeatedly refused to answer questions when interviewed by police. He instead relied on a prepared statement, in which he claimed he did not remember meeting the women and did not remember their names. He said any sexual contact was consensual.

Complainant 1: Allegation of sexual assault, 1999 Complainant 1 (C1), who is expected to give evidence on Thursday, claimed she was raped by Russell Brand after meeting him on the sidelines of the Labor Party conference in Bournemouth in 1999.

Carmi Jones, prosecuting attorney, said Brand and C1 met at an event and then continued their interaction in a hotel room. According to the prosecution, C1 went to the toilet and saw that Brand had removed his top. C1, who was in his 20s at the time, remembers Brand "running around the room" and "doing silly walks like Basil Fawlty."

C1 alleged that Brand pulled down her pants and raped her. She claimed the encounter "didn't last long" and said that after Brand ejaculated, he "acted like nothing happened" and "praised her with compliments." According to Carmi Jones, C1 recalled feeling like the incident was "his fault."

Mark Pineiro, who was with Brand in Bournemouth and considered a friend, was called as the first witness by the prosecution. He claimed that Brand was trying to leave Bournemouth in a hurry the morning after the alleged incident and was crouched in the back seat of the car "incredibly alert and scared". Pineiro told jurors that Brand later admitted he had been with a woman and "may have gone a little overboard."

Plaintiff 2: Alleged Indecent Assault, 2001 Plaintiff 2 (C2) was working at MTV at the time of the alleged assault. He recalls meeting Brand at the MTV offices in London and admiring his "I am Spartacus" T-shirt. She asked where the toilet was, and C2 directed her, at which point he attempted to pull her into the toilet, pleading with her to "come in".

Carmi Jones said C2 remembers Brand having a "wild-eyed look of despair" and him saying things to the effect of, "You're crazy, get off." He eventually gave up and C2 never saw the brand again. C2 did not report the incident at the time.

Complainant 3: Allegations of sexual assault and sexual assault, 2004 Complainant 3 (C3) alleged that she was verbally assaulted by Brand in the toilets of a London bar in 2004 when they both attended a birthday party for a well-known TV producer.

After being introduced at the event, C3 claimed Brand squeezed her breasts with a big, weird grin before grabbing her arm and leading her to the toilets. Carmi Jones said she remembered C3brand jumping on the toilet, unzipping his pants and shoving his face into his penis. The woman claimed that Brand forced his penis into her mouth before ejaculating.

Brand then left the restroom, prosecutors told jurors. C3 claimed to be shocked and shaken after bumping into the Despicable Me star.

Complainant 4: Allegation of Sexual Assault, 2004/2005 Complainant 4 (C4) alleged that she was sexually assaulted by Brand at Radio Capital in 2004 or 2005. Then in her 20s, she claimed Brand "grabbed" her, "pushing her against the wall." According to the prosecution, C4 claimed that Brand "grabbed her body by her breasts, sides and buttocks" in a "crazy" manner. He remembered her pushing him aside and telling him, "Take it!" C4 kept the incident to itself.

Plaintiff 5: Allegation of Sexual Assault, 2009 Plaintiff 5 (C5) alleged that she was assaulted by Brand in 2009. He was a "huge fan" of the comedian and met him at the Hammersmith Apollo after his scandalous stand-up performance, prosecutors said.

C5 admitted to having consensual sex with Brand and another woman in his dressing room, during which he gave the comedian oral sex, but refused to have vaginal sex. "Mr Brand was someone she loved - she became star struck," the prosecutor said. Her refusal [to have full sex] posed a challenge to Mr. Brand. He wanted to finish what he started."

They exchanged phone numbers and met a few days later at Brand's house in north London. C5 claimed they had satisfactory vaginal sex, which she "didn't enjoy" and said it "felt awkward". She claimed that Brand later "turned" her on all fours and unexpectedly penetrated her anally and removed her condom. C5 said she asked him to stop, but he continued, allegedly telling her, "I want you to feel the end of me," before ejaculating, prosecutors told jurors.

Jurors heard how C5 "spent months and years blaming himself." C5 claimed he saw Brand again at a later event, after which the star texted him saying: "I want to push you harder." "I think you pushed me enough — you treated me like an animal," she recalled him replying. "I'm sorry," he said.

Plaintiff 6: Sexual Assault Allegation, 2009 A former Channel 4 employee accused Brand Plaintiff 6 (C6) of sexual assault while filming a project in 2009. She claimed that Brand requested a massage and "put his head directly into her groin area." Recalling that she felt uncomfortable, C6 claimed she could feel his breath on her genitals, according to prosecutor Carmi Jones. C6 complained in 2009 but felt her report was "not taken seriously at the time."
