Did the film "Khanoum Valedeh" have an age rating, yet elementary school girls were taken to see it

A while ago, it was announced that screenings of the film "Khanoum Valedeh," directed by Soheil Movafagh, would carry an age rating, meaning viewers under 15 would not be permitted to watch it. This was announced 12 days after the film's release, by which point 724,000 tickets had been sold.

According to Safir Arjan, Safir Arjan newspaper wrote: "The reason for the ranking that was considered for the film was a lot of adult jokes. Now a video is circulating on social networks in which the teacher of elementary school students in the class draws a lottery between 2 options "Question" and "Cinema" and when the name of the cinema comes out of the lottery, the students go to see Mrs. Valdeh.

Leaving aside the choice of this movie for elementary school girls, it is interesting that the school authorities have easily been able to get tickets for a movie for these students under 15 years old, which according to the guidelines, they are not allowed to watch.

One of the sure ways for a child not to see inappropriate movies based on his age in the cinema is parental supervision and awareness. But in this case, it is interesting that the school authorities have chosen this movie for children and the families probably had no role in it. This group of students, of course, is not the only group under the designated age to watch it. In the various videos that bloggers have published about Mrs. Valdeh, even children can be seen in the theater, and this means that the age classification in Iranian cinema is just a formality to continue showing the film, and this is what has been pointed out many times.

Although the age rating system for a film is not a law, it is a guideline that is considered to protect children and teenagers and should have some form of executive guarantee. But you can easily buy a movie ticket from the website and when you go to the cinema, there is no one to prevent you from taking your child or teenager to the theater or even to warn you about the content of the movie. Such classification was considered in Iran for the first time in 1377 for the film "Sweet Sufferings" by Alireza Davodenjad, which was not taken seriously at the time. Later in 1998, with the formation of a committee of 30 people to classify films according to age group, age classification was considered for 4 films "Local Anesthesia", "Jester", "Nushin" and "Tsunami". At the same time, guidelines for the age classification of films were proposed and 4 categories were specified. With this classification, cinemas were required to supervise the provision of tickets to unauthorized persons, but this law lasted only for 6 months and after this period, with the complaint of the country's attorney general, the Administrative Court of Justice issued a request to cancel and stop the guidelines for the age classification of movies.

The role of the family in choosing movies for children

The reason for the prosecutor's opposition to this notice was that in their opinion, all films must comply with these points, and in principle, no film should be made that contains the issues raised in this notice, and the impression was created that this classification is a kind of permission to make films that contain "obscenity" and violence.

In this way, the 30-member board that was supposed to be responsible for these reviews was canceled. However, at the same time, there were many discussions about the mechanism of this classification. It can be said that one of the issues was that films suitable for the category of over 15 years old will have fewer theaters available, which meant that the sale of the film was in jeopardy.

With these details and the ineffectiveness of the age rating system, it seems that the best way to protect children from content that is not suitable for them is family supervision. Families should read about the movie before taking their child so that their child doesn't encounter jokes inappropriate for their age or violence in the movie, and of course the school authorities choose a suitable movie for the students!

Screening suitable for children and teenagers

Currently, which films on the screen are suitable for children and teenagers? The animations "Safinenajat" and "Crab" and the live-actions "Bambolk 2", "Snow White" and "The Two" were made with the aim of children and teenagers. Regardless of the quality of these animations and movies, the target audience of this movie is supposed to be children and they are usually a good choice for student screenings. An important point that should not be forgotten about student screenings is the wide age range of students. Students include age groups from 7 to 18 years old, and certainly the film of 7-year-old children has fundamental differences with 18-year-old teenagers. Iranian cinema basically has few films suitable for teenagers and most of its productions are suitable for children
