The former American gymnastics coach was sentenced to 90 years in prison for the crime of producing obscene content of children

Sean Gardner, the former US gymnastics coach, was sentenced to 90 years in prison for secretly filming children in the bathroom of a sports club and producing obscene content. The discovery of hundreds of images and videos from this case has once again questioned the performance of regulatory bodies.

The former American gymnastics coach was sentenced to 90 years in prison for secretly filming children in the sports environment and producing obscene content.

According to Ambassador Arjan, Sean Gardner, a former gymnastics coach in America, was sentenced to 90 years in prison for installing hidden cameras and illegally filming children in a sports club.

According to the Associated Press, this 39-year-old coach pleaded guilty to three federal felony counts related to the production of child pornography. Investigations by the US Federal Police revealed that between 2017 and 2018, he installed hidden cameras in the bathroom of a gymnastics club in the state of Mississippi. During the investigation, officers discovered about 50 videos and 400 photos related to this case.

The case has also drawn criticism from USA Gymnastics' regulatory bodies. According to the victims' attorneys, Gardner had been given warnings to authorities about inappropriate behavior since 2017, but he continued to be active in sports and in 2018 joined a club in Iowa State.

The American Center for Safety in Sports temporarily suspended Gardner in 2022 after receiving another report of sexual misconduct. Further, the center admitted that some managers of the club where he worked knew about the allegations, but had not reported them.

Currently, several lawsuits related to this incident are pending against Gardner, the USA Gymnastics Federation and her club.
