Nurses Play a Decisive Role in Patient Safety
The president of Tehran University of Medical Sciences said: Nurses play a decisive role in maintaining patient safety, improving the quality of healthcare services, and fulfilling the university's social mission.
According to Ambassador Arjan Seyedreza Rais Karmi, in a message on the occasion of Nurse's Day, he said: Naming Nurse's Day with the blessed birth of Hazrat Zainab Kobari (PBUH) is a reminder of a lasting model of awareness, perseverance and responsibility in the most difficult situations; Values that still have meaning in the professional and humane behavior of nurses today.
I believe that the prestige of a university of medical sciences is not only based on its scientific status, research achievements and treatment facilities; Rather, it is the quality of care that patients receive and the trust they experience in facing the health system. Meanwhile, nurses, with their specialized knowledge, professional skills and continuous presence, play a decisive role in maintaining the safety of patients, improving the quality of medical services and fulfilling the social mission of the university.
The experience of going through difficult crises has shown that the main capital of the health system is its capable, committed and responsible human resources. In these tests, nurses have proven that professional responsibility, beyond performing daily tasks, is a conscious commitment to preserve human life and peace.
However, true appreciation of the nursing community should not be limited to occasions and congratulatory messages. I believe that upholding the dignity of nurses, first of all, means practical attention to professional demands, improving working conditions, improving welfare and livelihood, providing opportunities for scientific growth and their effective participation in health system decision-making. The university has the duty to act responsibly towards their health, peace and professional rights, just as it expects nurses to take proper care of patients.
Tehran University of Medical Sciences, based on its proud background and the valuable efforts of the members of the large nursing family, has a double responsibility in developing nursing knowledge, improving care standards and raising a capable and ethical generation. Fulfilling this responsibility requires empathy, continuous dialogue and benefiting from the experience and collective wisdom of all colleagues.
On the occasion of the birth of Hazrat Zainab Kobari (PBUH) and Nurse's Day, I sincerely congratulate the professors, students, managers and all colleagues of the nursing community, especially the hardworking nurses of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, and I hope that with joint efforts, we will take more effective steps towards raising the professional status of nursing, improving the quality of care and realizing justice in health.
