GTA 6 is apparently set for the first quarter of 2027 for PC

According to a new report, GTA 6 will be coming to PC just a few months after consoles.

Rockstar is reportedly planning to release GTA 6 for PC in the first quarter of 2027.

GamesBeat reported the news based on four sources who spoke on condition of anonymity. Rockstar and parent company Take-Two have yet to comment.

If true, that means GTA 6 will arrive on PC on November 19, 2026, just a few months after it launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. Some had a longer wait for the game on PC, considering that it took nearly two years for GTA 5 to come to PC after consoles.

The PC launch may be accompanied by the release of GTA 6's multiplayer mode, which fans are calling GTA Online 2 and await official word from Rockstar. While Rockstar has yet to confirm an online mode for GTA 6, last month Twitch head Dan Clancy said that GTA Online 2 — or whatever GTA 6's multiplayer mode is called — will launch next year.

Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick has always responded with vague comments about the possibility of GTA 6 coming to PC, pointing to Rockstar for the announcements. In May, Zelnick told Bloomberg that Rockstar "always starts with console because I think with a release like that, you're going to be judged by serving the core. Like serving the core consumer. If your core consumer isn't there, if you're not serving them first and best, you're kind of not hitting your other consumers."

Red Dead Redemption, GTA 5, LA Noire, Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2 all came to PC after consoles. While GTA's core audience may be on consoles, it has a large following of active PC players, fueled by GTA Online and role-playing servers.

In fact, 12 months ago, Zelnick said the industry was moving toward PC, telling CNBC's Squawk Box that the video game business was trending toward "open rather than closed."

In 2024, Zelnick was asked if the lack of a PC version of GTA 6 was the main reason. His answer in full is:

Well, the lack of a notification isn't something that can be said that close to me, because the only thing that happens after the lack of notification is a notification, I think, or the lack of notification, I guess that could also happen. I don't think any of them will be stoned.

But Rockstar has a platform approach we've seen before, and they'll make more announcements in due course. I believe the right strategy for our business is to be where the consumer is, and historically, what this company has done is reach customers wherever they are, on whatever platform makes sense, over time.

Assuming GTA 6 hits PC early next year, one of the big questions players have is how it will perform compared to consoles. Rockstar has yet to confirm GTA 6's performance on consoles, so we're still in the dark about fps and resolution. But the expectation is that any PC version can perform better, assuming your rig is powerful enough.
