Saeed and Hossein nominated for Asian Man of the Year; Iran's hope for a golden ball in the annual awards

Iran's futsal stars Hossein Tayibi and Saeed Ahmad Abbasi are among the three candidates for the Asian Man of the Year title.

According to Sports 3, the Asian Football Confederation unveiled the candidates for the 2026 Best Awards, and in futsal, Hossein Tayibi and Saeed Ahmad Abbasi, the prominent stars of the national team, along with Thai Mohammad Osman Moussa, are competing to steal the golden ball. Meanwhile, Iran's futsal has had numerous winners in the history of this great ceremony and has been the leader in winning this award except for three times. Last year, Salar Aghapour was recognized as the best player of the year, and in the last three years, Saeed Ahmad Abbasi, who is now nominated again, and Muslim Olad Qabad have achieved this great title.

However, the Asian Football Confederation has certain criteria in selecting the best and the members of the technical committee determine the winners. In the past years, the performance of players in national competitions has played a decisive role in collecting points, and if this formula continues, considering Iran's championship in the Asian Nations Cup 2026, this award will go to one of the two Iranian stars.

Iran's futsal superstar Hossein Tayibi, who has been nominated for the best player in the world six times and has been included in the European Champions League squad twice as the best striker, had a great last year and won the title of Mr. Goal of the Premier League and the national team. He also won Iran's best player of the year award and was among the top scorers in the 2026 Asian Nations Cup with six goals alongside Mohammad Osman Moussa and Japanese Shimizu.

Saeed Ahmad Abbasi, Iran's futsal scoring machine, who was recognized as MVP for the second time in the Asian Nations Cup, is close to the second golden ball of his career. As one of the top scorers in futsal history, he was named the best player in the Asian tournament with a total of three goals and three assists, and on paper, he will have the best chance to win the Golden Ball.

And finally, Mohammad Osman Musa, who left the competition ball to Salar Aghapour last year, has a chance to win this award at home this time. Although the Asian Football Confederation should prioritize his club performance to select Usman. The Thai star plays for Jimmy Cartagena in La Liga and has scored two goals in five games in the new club league season. He also scored 20 times for Cartagena last season.
