Household Information to Be Completed Using Registry Data in Census

Sari – The Deputy for Statistics and Information of the Mazandaran Management and Planning Organization announced that the 2026 General Population and Housing Census is being conducted using the register-based method.

According to Mehr reporter, Abbas Pouraskandar emphasized on the scientific preparation of the executive forces, compliance with the instructions and proper maintenance of the equipment during the training course for the census officers of the 1405 General Population and Housing Census on Monday afternoon.

Referring to the importance of officers' equipment and identification documents, he stated: The identification cards issued to officers have specific codes and security features, and it is not possible to reissue them; Therefore, careful maintenance of these cards is essential.

The Vice President of Statistics and Information of Mazandaran Management and Planning Organization also considered the delivered tablets as the main tools for the implementation of the census operation and demanded to take care of this equipment during the training and implementation stages.

Pointing to the nationwide exam of statisticians, Porasikander added: the scientific evaluation of the forces is done based on the national exam, and the participants must get the necessary preparation for this evaluation by continuously and carefully studying the educational content.

In explaining the approach of the 1405 census, he stated: This plan is implemented with a registration-based method and in a combined manner; This means that, unlike the 2015 census, where household information was collected mainly through field visits to households, in the new period, the data available in the systems and databases of the executive bodies is given priority.

He continued: In the first stage, Iran's Statistics Center has collected and reviewed the required information from the information systems of ministries and executive agencies. These data include topics such as population, real estate and housing, educational background and skills, and economic activity.

According to Purasikander, the review of the available data has shown that the information related to a part of the households needs to be completed or corrected, and to fix these deficiencies, the next stages of the census will be followed based on the anticipated mechanisms.

Referring to the notification program for the eligible households, he stated: According to the announced program, from the end of October, completion of the information of some households will be followed up through internet platforms, and notification SMS will be sent to these people.

The Deputy of Statistics and Information of Mazandaran Management and Planning Organization emphasized: SMS is not sent to all households, but this action only includes households whose information is incomplete and should be completed according to the investigations of the Iranian Statistics Center.

In the end, Pourasikander listed the proper training of the officers, the protection of the equipment and the precise implementation of the determined processes among the effective factors in the success of the census and noted: the correct implementation of this plan can help improve the quality of statistical data and provide a basis for more accurate decision-making and planning for the development of Mazandaran province.
