Ukraine Will Not Join the EU Before 2030

A European diplomat says the European Union has no plan to accelerate Ukraine's membership in the bloc before 2030.

Despite Ukraine's repeated requests to join the European Union, informed sources report that this will not happen in the next four years. A European diplomat says that the European Union has no plans to accelerate Ukraine's membership in the organization before 2030. This unnamed source explained in an interview with "Izvestia" newspaper: "I don't think there is any big plan to accelerate the process (of Ukraine's accession to the European Union). Negotiations are ongoing, but I don't believe that Ukraine will become a member of the Union before 2030." He stated that Ukraine's agricultural sector has caused concern for several EU countries and the European Commission is looking for solutions for it. He said: "Brussels and Kiev still have negotiations on the green agenda, resources and agriculture that need to be concluded."
