This is our first look at Dark Link in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake.

Nintendo has debuted Dark Link in the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

As Nintendo pulls back the curtain on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, we're starting to get a better idea of how the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive will look and feel. IGN already has you covered with an extensive hands-on preview as well as a rundown of all the changes we've seen so far compared to the N64 masterpiece.

But now, Nintendo has released two new trailers (TV broadcast for Japan) that, while brief, offer a tantalizing look at some never-before-seen characters, chief among them Dark Link.

Warning! Possible spoilers for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake below…

Fans of the original game know Dark Link well. He is a shadowy, mirror-like doppelganger of Link who serves as the mini-boss of Ocarina's iconic Blue Temple. You fight him in a fog-filled room with shallow water and a dead tree in the center, which is one of the most memorable battles in the game. Dark Link's name brilliantly reflects the name of the player's save file (recorded by Navi), and his overall health dynamically matches Link's exact number of Heart Containers at that moment.

The new trailer shows the fight in action, though we only get the briefest of glimpses of how it will play out. We see Dark Link leaking into Link's sword and looking menacingly at our hero.

Dark Link isn't the only thing worth highlighting about these two videos. We see the big bad guy Ganondorf playing the organ, Link playing his Ocarina, the scene where Link finally gets the Master Sword, and so much more.

In fact, if you haven't played Ocarina of Time before, I'd say these trailers veer into spoiler territory, which is why I've brought this article up with a spoiler warning. As a huge fan of the original game, there's really nothing here to spoil my enjoyment, but we do get to see some end-game footage.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. While you wait, check out a special episode of Nintendo Voice Chat where we delve into our Zelda preview.
