Life has been a bit complicated for former NFL quarterback Tony Romo these days.

The four-time Pro Bowl selection recently parted ways with CBS, citing the need to take time off for mental health.

This comes just months after he was arrested on an OWI charge in Wisconsin in July, and on the same day he was booted from the Korn Ferry qualifier for signing a false scorecard.

It's probably safe to say that 2026 hasn't been Romo's year, but if anyone knows how to handle tough times amid public scrutiny, it's the former Dallas Cowboys signal caller.

And Tomi Lahren herself, Outkick, has proof.

During an episode of "Tommy Laren Is Fearless," Laren explained to guest Kevin "KFC" Clancy of Barstwell that Romo once offered some sage advice about dealing with online hate.

"It was actually Tony Romo at the time who said to me, 'You think the whole world is talking about it, but nobody really is,'" Lauren says.

This comes after Lahren received hateful comments for her appearance on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah right after Donald Trump won in 2016.

Basically the message was, don't be so full of yourself that you think everyone is like that,'' said Lauren. Because most people aren't even on the internet."

Clancy agreed and took things one step further.

He believes: "I think humans are not meant to be so connected and interact. "We can't handle it."

The longtime Barstool employee goes on to explain that for 99.9% of human history, we as humans were limited to interacting with our small community.

"The fact that you have access to the opinions of millions of people... I don't think we can even handle that."

That's great advice from all parties involved, and Romo would be wise to heed what he told Laren nearly a decade ago.

He's going through a rough patch, but he'll come out on the other side.

A guy as flexible as Romo -- who didn't come from a small school in Eastern Illinois and bounced back from multiple injuries -- can bounce back just fine.

No one knows what the future holds for the former CBS commentator, but as for the buzz online right now, the 46-year-old Romo just has to listen to his 36-year-old self.
