Donald Trump after the dinner held at the White House with HBO channel host Stephen E. Passes Smith and Kid Rock, once again praises Bill Maher.

"It was a great dinner, a very informative dinner," Trump told reporters on Friday. "Smart people. Stephen A. Great. Bill Maher—I'll tell you. He loves me a lot more than people realize, and I actually love him. It was a good dinner."

Maher had dinner with Trump at the White House last year and Kid Rock arranged the meeting. But Trump later became angry with Maher, writing on Truth Social in February that he was "a waste of time in the White House for me." He criticized Maher for some of his jokes.

In March, after The Atlantic reported that the Kennedy Center would award Maher its Mark Twain Award, White House press secretary Carolyn Leavitt confirmed that he would not receive the award. But Maher was announced as the recipient the following week. Trump did not attend the event in June, but some members of his administration did.

At dinner Thursday evening, Trump told reporters, "We talked about everything. It's taken a long time. And even though they have to kind of create a face for their people, they love Trump and I actually love them." He added that they also visited the ballroom which is under construction.
