Qazvin- Qazvin city council member called for a review of the rules for holding funeral ceremonies and the activities of ritual service groups in cemeteries and emphasized the need for more effective monitoring by the municipality to preserve the sanctity of these spaces.

Referring to the spiritual status of tombs, Ali Farmani said in an interview with Mehr reporter: Tombs should be a place to remember death, teach lessons and strengthen spirituality, and the behaviors and programs held in these places should be in accordance with their existential philosophy and respect.

He added: In some cases, the way of conducting the ceremony has deviated from the conventional framework and the dignity of mourning gatherings. Therefore, it is necessary to review the rules and regulations of this field more seriously and modify them if necessary.

The member of the Qazvin Islamic Council pointed to the activities of booths, cells and complexes that provide ritual services in the mausoleums and stated: the limits and conditions of the issued licenses should be clear and the activity of these units should be evaluated in terms of compatibility with the spiritual atmosphere of the mausoleums.

Emphasizing the responsibility of urban management in the administration of the mausoleums, Farmani said: The municipality should exercise more effective supervision over the activities inside the mausoleums within the scope of its legal authority and by formulating clear rules and continuous supervision, it should prevent the repetition of behaviors inconsistent with the dignity of funerals.

He continued: The city administration may not be able to intervene in some activities outside the tomb, but in the spaces under the management of the municipality, it is possible to provide the ground for observing the sanctity of the mourning ceremony by setting specific regulations.

This member of the Qazvin Islamic Council called for a specialized meeting with the presence of relevant officials and managers to review the existing situation and provide implementation solutions and stated: If the current rules and regulations are not responsive to the conditions, they should be amended; Also, if necessary, the way of assigning spaces and the conditions of activities of ritual service providers should be reviewed.

In the end, Farmani emphasized the need to respect the feelings of the bereaved families and noted: the protection of the sanctity of the cemeteries should be followed seriously so that these places remain a space for the memory of the deceased, the peace of the survivors and the preservation of the spiritual values of the society.
