Developing Trade Corridors Requires Sustainable and Reliable Logistics Services

Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development said: Sustainable routes are not limited to road and rail infrastructure. They also encompass traders' trust, stability of regulations, speed of cargo movement, and coordination of border processes.

Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development said: "The sustainable path is not only limited to road and rail infrastructure, but also includes the trust of businessmen, the stability of laws, the speed of moving goods, and the coordination of border processes."

According to the report of Ambassador Arjan Mehran Ghorbani, Deputy Minister of Transport, Roads and Urban Development, said about the direct relationship between trade development and the efficiency of the logistics network: strong exports and trade need stable routes and effective logistics services, and on the other hand, the development of transport routes also makes sense by strengthening the flow of trade and exports.

Stating that the stability of trade routes is a concept beyond the existence of infrastructure on the map, he added: One of the main pillars of this stability is the creation of a chain of trust between transport service providers and merchants. For foreign merchants, delivery time and shipping cost are very important, and these factors are also decisive for domestic private sector activists.

According to the announcement of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, Ghorbani considered the stability of laws and the confidence of economic activists in the continuity of procedures as other components of building trust and said: the corridor should be seen as a business ecosystem; An ecosystem that can provide reliable, fast and predictable services to merchants.

Deputy Transport Minister of Roads and Urban Development continued: The goal is for the country's corridors to become a service product that final customers, especially foreign merchants, are willing to pay for using these routes due to its quality, speed and reliability.

Border capacities need more facilitation and coordination

Referring to the measures taken to develop the country's transportation capacities, Ghorbani said: There are significant capacities in the country's borders in the railway, port, and road sectors, and with the provision of the necessary requirements, it is possible to increase the utilization of these capacities.

He listed cooperation with opposite countries and streamlining processes at border entry and exit points as requirements for better use of existing capacities and added: Performance growth has been recorded in all three main modes of transportation compared to last year, but we are still far from the final achievable capacity.

Emphasizing that the development of corridors is not solely dependent on the construction of new infrastructures, the deputy transport minister of road and urban development stated: the connection between the routes should be strengthened and at the same time, the country's border processes should be coordinated with the procedures of the other side. Smoothing the boundaries and integrating services can provide the basis for more effective use of existing capacities.

In the end, Ghorbani noted: the transportation network, business operators, and institutions responsible for trade facilitation are three important sectors in the formation of sustainable routes, and cooperation between them can help improve logistics performance and border activities; With the continuous follow-up of related issues and coordination between the executive bodies, it is possible to provide a basis for improving logistics performance and promoting border activities.
