How Many People Are Waiting for Marriage and Childbearing Loans?

Some 800,000 applicants for marriage and childbearing loans were awaiting disbursement by the end of Shahrivar. The Central Bank reports that payment speed has increased two to three times.

About 800,000 applicants for marriage and childbearing loans were waiting to receive facilities until the end of September; The central bank announces a 2-3 times increase in the speed of payments.

According to Ambassador Arjan, queuing for marriage and childbearing loans is still one of the problems of young couples and families. According to the statistics of the Court of Accounts, by the end of September this year, about 800,000 applicants for these two facilities had not yet received their loans. A statistic that, along with the Central Bank's promise to increase the speed of payments, raises the question of whether the waiting line will significantly decrease by the end of the year?

According to this report, out of a total of 804 thousand 802 marriage loan applicants, 411 thousand 884 people have received facilities and 48 percent of eligible applicants were still in the queue. The status of childbearing loans also shows that out of a total of 687 thousand 307 applicants, 281 thousand 346 people have taken loans and 59 percent of eligible applicants are waiting for payment.

The Deputy Director of Central Bank's Credit Operations Department announced the increase in the payment speed of this facility in recent months and said that the payment process has increased 2 to 3 times in the months of August, September and October. According to this banking official, war and cyber attack on several banks of the country in the past months have affected the performance of the banking network and caused a break in the payment of facilities. The Central Bank has also predicted that the quota set for the payment of loans will be realized by the end of the year.

However, no new statistics on the number of applicants who have fallen out of the queue in recent months have been published. Therefore, evaluating the effectiveness of increasing payments on reducing the waiting time of applicants requires the publication of new statistics.

Different performance of banks in loan payment

The report of the General Inspection Organization of the country also tells about the backwardness of some banks. According to the announcement of this organization, until 24 Shahrivar, three banks of capital, mission and export development of Iran in payment of marriage loans and five banks of Iran land, trade, development of cooperatives, tourism and housing in payment of child bearing loans had achieved less than 40% of their quota for the first six months of the year.

On the other hand, the average performance of the banking network in fulfilling the assigned quota for marriage loan is 77% and for childbearing loan is 61%. The Central Bank has also said that if the payment process is prolonged, it will correspond with the relevant bank and in some cases it will designate a branch for the applicant.

In this situation, increasing the speed of payments can help reduce the queue, but the final result depends on the performance of the backlogged banks and the number of cases that are assigned each month. The regular release of payment statistics and the number of people remaining in the queue will be a clearer measure to measure the fulfillment of the central bank's promise by the end of the year.
