Sony has announced that these games will be coming to PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra in October, and there's a good mix of modern bests and older gems to sink your teeth into for the spooky month of Halloween.

Here's the October PS Plus Extra and Premium list:

Mafia: The Old Country - October 20 (PS5)

Horizon Forbidden West - October 20 (PS5, PS4)

Poppy's Playtime: Chapter 2 - 27th October (PS5, PS4)

Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn Edition - October 27 (PS5, PS4)

Monster Energy Supercross 25: The Official Video Game - October 27 (PS5)

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition - October 20 (PS5, PS4)

The only major news this month is Mycopunk, a colorful co-op looter shooter where you and your crew of misfit robots work to destroy fungal malignancies or else risk being tossed into the scrap heap by your corporate overlords. The game has been in Early Access on Steam for over a year now, and user feedback has been great throughout! Mycopunk's 1.0 is coming out at the same time as its console debut - at least with its friends it looks like a fun Borderlands game.

Mycopunk aside, there are a few other highlights that might be worth checking out if you haven't already. Guerilla Horizon's lively Robo-Dino sequel Forbidden West returns to the subscription service, while Mafia: The Old Country made its debut last year. The dramatic Mob prequel shed the series' open-world veneer for a more granular and focused structure. Eurogamer's review had good points about it.

But it wouldn't be a good October line-up without horror, and The Midnight Walk and Poppy's Playtime are here to deliver. Capcom's PS1 classic Dino Crisis 2 doesn't quite veer into survival horror territory as a first game, but I think the bloodthirsty dinosaurs and tight, sometimes suffocating camera angles make it a good Halloween game.

What are you playing from this month's selection? As always, you can learn more about the service with our guide to PS Plus and all the games available.
