Cyberpunk 2's director says the ambitious role-playing title will expand beyond its initial vision as more developers come on board.
While the development process of Cyberpunk 2077 was highly insular and based on the activity of groups separated from each other, the construction of Cyberpunk 2 in CD Projekt Red's new studio (in Boston) follows a more collaborative approach. Although the sequel is expected to still focus on the first-person perspective and cinematic narrative of the previous version, the game's director Gabriel Amatangelo explained that the process is still evolving and will change over time.
In the context of the new collaborative approach or approach the development team has taken since the creation of the Phantom Liberty expansion pack for Cyberpunk 2077, Cyberpunk 2 is no longer simply a reflection of the vision of a few senior executives. Instead, team members work side-by-side, share ideas, and explore new and experimental capabilities. In a new post on the official website of CD Projekt Red, Amatangelo explained about the process of forming this project and said:
At first, the idea for Cyberpunk 2 was from me, but as I bring more people into the process, the idea becomes complete. This process continues by empowering the team and its members to participate in the development of the game. Eventually, this work will turn into something different, right?
Although the original idea for this sequel, which still has few details available, was formed in Amatangelo's mind, new developers are now adding their own ideas and expanding and changing it; So that the project goes beyond the original ideas of its creator. The game director added:
The project becomes something that I've driven, but it's ultimately a reflection of the heart and soul of everyone on the team.
He also explained that more collaborative development means that team members need to feel comfortable; When their ideas come to fruition and when it becomes clear that their proposal is not compatible with the overall direction of the game. Amatangelo further added:
A lot of people have told me that cyberpunk means one thing or another. I said yes! You are all right and at the same time, you are all wrong!” The concept of punk has different meanings for different people, but its core is the ability to raise questions; To ask why!
As the development team grows and new people join in with different perspectives, Cyberpunk 2 expands in new ways. As a result, the game is meant to be a reflection of the thoughts, feelings, and beliefs of all team members, rather than the perspective of one person or a small group of creators. The director of the game went on to emphasize the cooperation between the team members and said:
We have a common responsibility and we all consider ourselves to be a part of what we create. In addition, we have a good relationship with each other and there is a real sense of camaraderie among the team members.
For now, the final dimensions of Cyberpunk 2 are still unknown, but reports suggest that players will likely be able to leave Night City and explore a chaotic city inspired by Chicago. We also know that this game will use Unreal Engine 5, unlike the original version that was made with the exclusive RED Engine. CD Projekt Red has previously stated that it wants to move away from developing and maintaining its proprietary tools and move on to other technologies.
With The Witcher 4 coming out in 2028, Cyberpunk 2 probably won't hit the market until 2030 or even later. Therefore, fans will have to wait a long time to experience this sequel; An expectation that reminds of the long distance before the release of the first version. However, we hope that the final product will be a great role-playing game again, and that it will have fewer problems and glitches at launch than the previous version.
Hype and promises of selflessness should not be made and learn from the previous mistake
It seems small to show something that is supposed to be bigger is better than to show something big that is supposed to be smaller and it should not create unnecessary expectations in the audience.
In my opinion, the only problem with the first game is that the game world is empty, one can enjoy the beauty of Night City for hours and get lost watching it, but it's a pity that such a beautiful city cannot be touched.
Exactly the difference between Rockstar game and most open world games is that the game world should really breathe and be alive
In my opinion, in the next version: 1: They should go towards the neon noire genre and make the surroundings cyber ArtDeco. 2: The camera angle should be third person.
The first person camera was great, I can't imagine this great gameplay with the third person camera.
If you are looking for a third-person camera in cyberspace, play the outer worlds 2. Cyberpunk has its own identity
Bring the third person camera at least in the second version, it's a pity that the city can't see that beauty in the third person
My only expectation from CD Project is that when they officially introduce the game, they will release it a year later. Not like the first part, which was introduced six years before the release, or elder scrolls VI, whose logo I can only think of.
"Given that we expect The Witcher 4 to be released in 2027 or 2028" officially say 2028!
You don't want to talk about the game that is in pre-production
I love Cyber Panko with all its problems and flaws and it was really a very good game, only CD Project made a lot of mistakes, especially the first person game and those terrible bugs.
