Zafarqandi: Air Pollution Is a Major Threat to Health

The Health Minister, referring to the effects of air pollution on human health, said air pollution is one of the major factors threatening public health worldwide.

According to Ambassador Arjan's report, quoted by Webda, Mohammad Reza Zafarqandi, at the National Standards Conference held in the Summit Hall, while appreciating the efforts of the National Standards Organization and experts and researchers in this field, said: Improving the quality and maintaining people's health requires cooperation and coordination between different institutions, and the Standards Organization plays a fundamental role in this field.

He stated that sustainable and all-round development is not possible without the establishment of an effective standard system, and added: If we are looking for sustainable growth and development of the society, we must have an efficient standard system and a competent standard organization that is aware of the current developments.

Pointing out that a significant part of the factors affecting people's health are outside the direct scope of the health system, the Minister of Health clarified: the health of society is not limited to the services provided in medical centers, but many factors in the living environment, work environment, transportation, product quality, and the amount of pollutants affect human health.

Referring to the consequences of air pollution on human health, Zafar Qandi noted: Air pollution is one of the most important factors threatening public health in the world, and dealing with this problem requires compliance with standards, pollutant control, and coordination between responsible agencies.

He also pointed to road accidents and damage caused by accidents, and emphasized the need to pay attention to car safety standards, road quality and other factors affecting the reduction of accidents and said: Compliance with standards in different areas can play an important role in preventing injuries and protecting people's lives.

Emphasizing the necessity of continuous updating of the standards, the Minister of Health stated: the standard is not a fixed and unchangeable issue; Because knowledge, technology, products and health threats are constantly changing. Therefore, quality control and revision of standards should be done according to scientific developments and current conditions.

He continued: Achieving this goal requires continuous and effective communication between universities, research centers, national standards organization and executive bodies in order to identify new developments and risks and formulate appropriate solutions for their management.

Referring to the relationship between standards, economy and production, Zafar Qandi emphasized the need to pay attention to public interests in decision-making and added: In choices and policies, people's health and interests should be prioritized, and economic and production considerations should not cause health and safety requirements to be ignored.

He also emphasized the necessity of continuous monitoring, quality control and strengthening of specialized supervisions by referring to some dangers related to chemical pollutants, residues of veterinary drugs and other factors affecting health.

In the end, the Minister of Health noted: People's health should be prioritized in decisions and policies related to the standard, and with the cooperation of scientific, specialized and executive institutions, we can provide the basis for improving the quality of products, reducing risks and improving the health of society.
