Russia-US Deal Could Set a Precedent for Suspending or Lifting Sanctions
Alexander Shokhin, Russian presidential commissioner for the protection of entrepreneurs' rights, noted that in European Union countries, the auto industry is currently surviving only because it is now producing weapons.
Moscow, October 15. /TASS/. The Russia-US agreement on the supply of diesel fuel could become a promising precedent for how sanctions can be lifted or suspended, provided the United States is economically and politically interested in it, Alexander Shukhin, the Russian Presidential Commissioner for the Protection of Entrepreneurs' Rights, head of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), told Alexander Shukhin.
There was an old Soviet-era saying, "A friend and I were working on a diesel engine together," and I don't want our Russian-American deal to end the way it did. Shokhin, in his first interview after being appointed to the position of trade inspector, said that it is a good example for a country like Germany, where we see that the alternative to Germany is not only because of opposition to a very lenient immigration policy, but tariffs are increasing, prices are increasing, the industrial sector is faltering and some industries are completely closed.
He noted: In EU countries, the automobile industry is currently surviving only because they are now producing weapons.
"So, they probably have the same aggressive behavior with Russia over Ukraine. Basically, one can only hope that [US President Donald] Trump can at least retain the Senate, maybe by making sure that the price of diesel in the US doesn't go up."
In the end, he said: Therefore, this is not a bad example and the pragmatism of Trump and the American government can be contagious here.
