Trump says the US, Russia and China will sign nuclear arms control agreements

The US leader noted that he had raised the issue of nuclear arms control during talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Washington, October 17. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump is confident that the US, Russia and China will sign agreements on nuclear arms control.

"I can make a deal with them. I will get that deal. It doesn't have to be this year. Both are very important," he told reporters on the South Lawn of the White House.

In an interview with Newsmax that aired Thursday, Trump said he raised the issue of nuclear arms control during talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

According to the White House, Trump supported arms control talks between the United States, Russia and China during Xi Jinping's state visit to the United States on September 22-25. The Washington administration has previously announced its intention to include China in a possible new agreement between Russia and the United States on nuclear arms reduction. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that real arms control in the 21st century is impossible without taking China into account.

As previously stated in a briefing for reporters at the Chinese diplomatic mission in the US capital, the People's Republic of China considers it possible to hold arms control consultations with the United States, but Washington must create conditions, especially respecting Beijing's key interests.
