Russian Representative to the UN Security Council: Recent Middle East Crises, Which Began with the US and Israeli Attack on Iran, Have Had Widespread Negative Consequences Worldwide / The Only Way to End These Crises Is a Political and Diplomatic Solution, Though Prospects for Achieving It Still Seem Distant

Russia's representative to the UN Security Council said: The escalation of recent Middle East crises began with the US and Israeli aggression against Iran, illegal actions that led to the killing of Iranian civilians and widespread destruction in the country. The reckless actions of Washington and Israel have also put other countries in the region, especially the Arab states bordering the Persian Gulf, at risk.

Ambassador Arjan: The representative of Russia in the UN Security Council said: the escalation of the recent crises in the Middle East began with the aggression of the United States and Israel against Iran; The illegal actions that led to the killing of Iranian civilians and widespread destruction in this country and the reckless actions of Washington and Israel have put other countries in the region, especially the Arab countries along the Persian Gulf, at risk.

He added: This aggression has also caused a disturbance in the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and has had extensive negative consequences on economic, energy and food security around the world, and the only way to end these crises is to reach a political and diplomatic solution based on respect for the sovereignty and interests of all countries in the region. However, the prospect of its realization still seems distant.

The representative of Russia also gave a speech at the UN Security Council and said: As a result of the adventures of America and Israel, the border of Lebanon and the occupied territories has once again flared up, and despite mediation efforts, clashes and mutual shelling continue, and the Israeli authorities openly speak of their intention to expand the areas under their control along the blue line.

He added: According to the announcement of the Ministry of Health of Lebanon, the number of victims of Israel's actions has exceeded 4 thousand people and the number of injured is also very high, and as the end of the mission of the UN forces in Lebanon is approaching, there is a risk of creating a serious security gap. Efforts should be made to implement Security Council resolutions and maintain the presence of international forces in southern Lebanon.

The representative of Russia in the UN Security Council stated: In recent months, we have witnessed very dangerous developments in Yemen and the Arabian Peninsula. Attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure continue, and one of the most recent examples was a massive missile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which killed nationals of several countries. Russia condemns this attack.

He added: "The developments in the region should not be allowed to divert the attention of the international community from the Palestinian issue, which has remained unresolved for decades, and after a year has passed since the October 2025 ceasefire agreement in Gaza, no significant practical progress has been achieved in its implementation."

The representative of Russia in the UN Security Council said: The Israeli army continues to violate the ceasefire and the number of victims of this regime's military operations in Gaza is shocking.
