A 70-year-old woman was jailed for signing the back of her husband's check
The elderly woman who was jailed for signing her husband's check and his guarantee was released with the help of philanthropists.
About 3 months ago, a person went to the prosecutor's office and filed a complaint stating that he received a check for the amount of one hundred million tomans for the sale of goods from an elderly man, but after the date of receipt of the check, he returned the check due to the lack of money in the account, and the owner of the check also claims that he is unable to pay the amount of the check. After this complaint, considering that the 70-year-old wife of the owner of the check had signed the back of the check as a guarantor, an order was issued to arrest her and the elderly woman was imprisoned.
Shahbaz Nobakht, CEO of Ardabil Provincial Prisoners' Support Association, said about this case: "About 3 months after this incident, considering that this elderly woman, who had no criminal history, was imprisoned only for guaranteeing her husband's check and was innocent, efforts to save her began, and with the cooperation of a charitable organization, Ardabil Prisoners' Support Association, and the Public Relations Department of the Dispute Resolution Deputy, the heavy burden of debt was lifted from this mother's shoulders, and she was finally released and returned home."
He added: "We have seen that sometimes some creditors, whose claims amount to several billions, refuse to take legal action to collect their debts due to moral and humane reasons and complying with the conditions of the debtor and are not willing to arrest the debtor and go to jail, but some others, like this case, the creditor caused an elderly person to go to jail for several tens of millions, causing a family to worry and inflame."
Of course, our goal in this forum is to support and help some financially indebted prisoners who have been imprisoned due to their inability to pay their debts and do not have a criminal record. In this association, with the help of benefactors, we are trying to rescue these prisoners who have special conditions from prison and bring them back to their families.
