Trump Takes Lawsuit Against Hillary Clinton to Supreme Court!

Donald Trump asked the Supreme Court to revive his dismissed lawsuit against Hillary Clinton, his Democratic rival in the 2016 presidential election.

According to Ambassador Arjan, Trump claims that Clinton, James Comey, the former head of the FBI, and a number of other people conspired to discredit his election campaign and make it appear related to Russia.

The request came after a federal judge dismissed Trump's lawsuit and ordered him and one of his lawyers to pay nearly $1 million in fines and legal fees. The Court of Appeal also confirmed this decision and financial penalties in 2025.

Trump's lawyers have argued in their new request that the Supreme Court's handling of this case is necessary to protect the position of the presidency. The lower courts' decision, they say, reflects a troubling trend in which judges punish the president and his lawyers for making legal arguments by imposing fines and threatening disciplinary action.

A complaint of electoral conspiracy

In 2022, when he was out of office after losing the 2020 election, Trump filed lawsuits against Clinton, Comey, former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele, the Democratic National Committee and several others.

He claimed that before the 2016 election, Clinton and her allies tried to destroy her political credibility by creating a false narrative about her campaign's cooperation with Russia. The complaint alleged organized extortion and conspiracy to publish damaging claims.

Judge Donald Middlebrooks dismissed Trump's lawsuit for several defects, including the late filing of some claims. He likened the petition to a "200-page political manifesto" in which Trump listed his grievances with his opponents.

This judge also stated that the complaint was filed with the aim of dishonestly promoting a political narrative and contained really false claims and baseless legal arguments.

The issue of the Trump campaign's connection with Russia is still one of the main axes of this case. In his 2019 report, Robert Mueller, the special investigator of the investigation related to Russia's interference in the elections, announced that Russia interfered in the 2016 elections in a large and organized manner; However, his investigation failed to prove that members of the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government for this interference.

At the same time, Mueller spoke about the existence of numerous connections between members of the Trump campaign and people connected to Russia, and wrote that the Trump campaign expected to benefit from Moscow's efforts to influence the outcome of the election.

Trump has always denied the accusations related to his campaign's illegal communication with Russia and has called Moscow's intervention a "hoax". On the other hand, a 2023 report by John Durham, the special inspector appointed to review the FBI's performance, criticized the agency's excessive reliance on information provided by Trump's political opponents.

Now Trump is hoping the Supreme Court will reverse the ruling of the lower courts. However, his request does not mean the acceptance of his claims and it is not yet clear whether the Supreme Court will accept the case for retrial or not.
