Tracking sleep and other vitals can help people improve their health — but wearing a tracker can feel heavy. Kardian Somily, from Toronto-based health technology company Xandar Kardian, offers a new way to understand personal health data without wearables or cameras. The device is a radar-based sensor that, when placed near the bed, monitors breathing, heart rate, movement, sleep quality, and other metrics. The company's medical device, the FDA-cleared XK300 Essence, is already in use in hospitals and other healthcare settings. Somily is the home consumer version.
