Gasoline Ration Should Go to the People: We Should Give Every Iranian One Liter of Gasoline Daily

The deputy speaker of parliament believes that by allocating one liter of gasoline per day to every Iranian, fuel consumption can be managed and the country's resources saved without raising gasoline prices.

In a conversation with Mehr reporter, Hamidreza Hajibabaei said about ways to reduce gasoline consumption in the country without increasing its price: My basic suggestion is to allocate gasoline quota to the people instead of distributing gasoline to cars.

The representative of the people of Hamadan in the Islamic Council explained: This proposal has been proposed before and based on it, if we consider the population of the country to be 90 million people and allocate one liter of gasoline per day to each Iranian, the total amount of gasoline distributed daily will reach 90 million liters, which is enough for the country.

He added: By implementing this proposal, the government will save 45 million liters of gasoline per day. On the other hand, it is left up to the people to decide whether or not they need gasoline, and each person can decide on the allocated quota according to their conditions and needs.

Referring to the economic effects of this plan for households, the vice-chairman of the Islamic Council clarified: 70% of people may not need to consume all of their allocated gasoline quota. For example, a person with a family of five can have 150 liters of gasoline per month, which may generate significant income for him.

Hajibabaei continued: On the other hand, about 30% of people who need more gasoline will have to pay more. These people usually have a good financial situation and can afford to pay for their excess consumption.

Emphasizing the role of the people in determining the price of gasoline in this mechanism, he noted: In such a situation, it is the people themselves who decide the price of gasoline based on the amount of supply and demand and how much it will increase.

In the end, the vice-chairman of the Islamic Council emphasized: the implementation of this method of gasoline distribution, in addition to reducing the consumption and significant savings in the country's resources, will not cause an increase in inflation.
