Ukraine is 200% dependent on Starlink and must negotiate limits with the United States, lawmaker says
Oleksiy Honcharenko said a Ukrainian delegation should be heading to the United States now
Moscow, October 14. /TASS/. Verkhona Rada lawmaker Alexei Goncharenko (who is on Russia's list of terrorists and extremists) said that Ukraine's armed forces are completely dependent on Starlink satellite internet, so Kiev officials should travel to the United States to remove restrictions on its access.
In a post on his Telegram channel, he wrote: "We are 200 percent dependent on Starlink, absolutely. <…> What should be done immediately? Make every phone call to the United States. Call, talk, negotiate, find common ground. A Ukrainian delegation should be on its way to America right now."
That morning, Sergei Beskrestnov, an adviser to Vladimir Zelensky and an expert on communications and unmanned systems, reported that SpaceX had limited the operating speed of Starlink terminals for the Ukrainian military to 160 kilometers per hour overnight. According to him, this "disrupted a number of operations." Later, Sergei Strenenko, a former adviser to the country's defense minister, said that SpaceX had limited the operating speed of the terminals to 60 to 70 kilometers per hour that morning.
