Filming of "Batman 2" resumes in difficult and unusual conditions. Matt Reeves, the director who has been in charge of this series since 2017, will not be present at the filming location for the time being due to dealing with a sensitive issue in his family.

Ambassador Arjan: Steven Soderbergh, the director of works such as "Ocean's Eleven", "Magic Mike" and "Traffic", is stepping in to help complete the filming of this project. He will work remotely with Reeves in the final months of production to prepare the film for release on February 18, 2028. Soderbergh himself offered to help Reeves. After the news broke on Thursday, Reeves wrote on social network X: "To be clear, I am not walking away from 'Batman 2.' During this difficult time, I am deeply grateful to Steven for stepping in to help me complete the principal photography. Thank you all for your concern and kind messages."

Reeves continues to have the full support of Warner Bros. and DC. He is the producer of the movie "Clayface", which is released this weekend, and also played an important role in the creation of the "Penguin" series for HBO. According to reports, the entire studio is standing by him at this critical juncture. The plan is for Soderbergh to work in London and Reeves to lead the project remotely from Los Angeles. Reeves is expected to have a more direct role in post-production, which will take place in Los Angeles. It is said that about two-thirds of the film has been completed so far.

Soderbergh said in a statement: "I thought Matt Reeves' work on 'Batman' was stunning; A purposeful, precise and structurally coherent work. "The goal is to work with Matt and his crew to capture footage that blends seamlessly with the segments that have been shot so far, so that Matt can finish his film properly."

This is not the first time that DC or its parent company, Warner Bros., is faced with an unexpected change in the director of one of its films. Nine years ago, Zack Snyder replaced Joss Whedon during the making of 2017's Justice League after facing a family tragedy and losing the studio's backing.

The character of Superman had also faced a change of director before; In 1980, Richard Donner left the project after filming part of Superman 2, and Richard Lester took his place.

Robert Pattinson reprises his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan are among the new actors who have joined the new part of this series.
