More information about the highly anticipated third "Sicario" movie is coming.

Taylor Sheridan's Sand franchise is one of the best you'll find in cinemas over the past fifteen years, especially its 2015 original.

It was recently confirmed that a third film was happening, but there were competing reports as to whether Sheridan would once again take the lead as a writer.

Unfortunately, the answer seems to be no. Steven Knight will write the screenplay.

Josh Brolin tells Taylor Sheridan that he's not writing Sicario 3.

Brolin, who plays CIA operative Matt Graver in the franchise, returns for the third film alongside Benicio del Toro and Emily Blunt.

Blunt did not appear in the sequel, but played the title role in the original film.

Brolin recently spoke with ScreenRant about the upcoming third picture and touched on the status of the script and writing.

The popular actor told the outlet that the progress of the third film is "at a note stage" and that those involved are "still working on it".

The "Sicario" franchise leader also talked about getting back to work with Del Toro and Blunt, and he couldn't have sounded more excited.

"We adore each other, and we've all worked together before. Me and Benicio, this will be our sixth movie together. It's amazing. Working with Emily again]. I just sent her a little voice note yesterday, and I just adore her, I adore her. I think it's at a level right now that's untouchable," Brolin told ScreenRant.

There's no release date for the third Sicario movie, but you can bet it'll be a long time before it hits theaters. Have a fun theory about what the plot could be? Let me know at @David.Hookstead.
