An account of the injury to the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei

The head of the Tehran Province Emergency Services detailed the injury to the Supreme Leader, Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei.

According to the reporter of Ambassador Arjan Mohammad Ismail Tavakoli, the head of emergency department of Tehran province, explaining his observations from the first day of the war, he talked about the aid delivery in the Beit area, the transfer of the bodies of the martyrs, how to know about the martyrdom of the revolutionary leader and the efforts of the emergency forces during the war days. He also mentioned the presence of the president in the field and the government's support for the emergency department of Tehran province.

Referring to the rumors about Mr. Mojtaba's physical condition in the early hours of the attack, he said: After the news of his serious injury was published, I followed up on the matter from the people who were present at the scene or participated in the rescue operation, but no one confirmed these claims.

He added: "Some friends mentioned injuries, but I did not receive specific confirmation from the people present at the scene about the severity of the injuries."

Tavakoli's account of the first moments of the attack

Referring to the first day of the war, the head of emergency department of Tehran province said: I was sitting at my desk at 9:30 in the morning. There was a window at the end of the room overlooking the government campus. Suddenly I heard a terrible sound and the area shook. Thick smoke rose from the accident site and I immediately moved towards the site.

Tavakli continued: At the same moment, the head of the minister's office called me and asked about what happened. Given the circumstances, I assumed that Bit was the target of the attack. Colleagues also prepared the necessary equipment and we went to the accident site.

Describing the conditions of the Republic Street at that time, he said: The atmosphere of the city was very inflamed and people were experiencing difficult conditions. We entered the area with Dr. Kolivand and using a trail motorcycle.

Bitter scenes of rescue in the Beit range

Referring to his presence in Palestine Street, the head of emergency department of Tehran province said: About four minutes after arriving, I moved towards Palestine Street. IRGC forces informed that there are injured and dead bodies in an alley in that area. In the place, several cars were burning and very bitter scenes of the wounded and the bodies of the martyrs were seen.

He added: In the same area, Dr. Larijani was transported by motorcycle through the small door of Palestine Street and we entered the Beit complex. A part of the residence of Sardar Shahid Shirazi was also damaged. Ambulances based in Beit Ham were damaged by this attack, but emergency forces continued to operate despite the high volume of attacks.

Tavakli noted: Our forces were present in places where there was a possibility of danger and were trying to continue providing relief. Despite the damage to the equipment and ambulances, my colleagues immediately took action.

The transfer of bodies and what happened in the first hours

Referring to the moments inside the Beit Complex, Tavakli said: After entering, we went to the workplace of the Revolutionary Leader's office, but the building had been destroyed and the conditions there were not such that we could imagine his presence there.

He continued: Then we moved towards Agha Mojtabi's residence. Rescuers had earlier removed two bodies from the place, which were later found to belong to his wife and sister.

The emergency chief of Tehran province added: At the same time, a car stopped next to us and one of the people present, who seemed to be Agha Mithaq, got out of the car and went towards the bodies. After a few moments, the bodies were placed in the ambulance and he returned to the south side of the complex.

Tavakli emphasized: At that moment, I did not know who the bodies belonged to, and later I learned about their identities through my colleagues.

"We didn't know about the martyrdom of the leader of the revolution for hours"

The head of emergency department of Tehran province said about the time of learning about the martyrdom of the leader of the revolution: In the first hours, the atmosphere inside the complex was not such that we could learn about his martyrdom. Even until around 14:00, there was no mention of martyrdom in our conversations.

He added: During those hours, the minister also called me twice and asked about the condition of the leader of the revolution. Based on the information I had, I said that they were not at the place we wanted and I assured them of their health. Because at that time I had not received any information confirming the testimony.

Referring to the mental state of some people present in the collection, Tawakli said: Hojjatul Islam Hosseini was deeply affected by the people who were present there. This situation seemed unusual to me and I told my colleague that something important might have happened.

He continued: However, until the evening of the first day, we did not have a clear understanding of the martyrdom of the leader of the revolution. It was around 20:00 when we learned about his martyrdom through the forces of the Ministry of Information.

Tavakoli pointed to the conditions of the operational forces and the testimony of some colleagues and said: Our relationship with the commanders and forces stationed in the military centers was very close. On one of the nights of the war, Mehdi Bahraini, the emergency commander of the northwest of Tehran province, called me and spoke in a sincere atmosphere about the martyrdom of some forces related to the group.

He added: These calls and news were very heavy for us. The next day, the wireless space of the northwest region also had a sad mood. I sent a message to my colleagues and emphasized that maintaining morale and perseverance in this situation is very important.

The head of the emergency department of Tehran province continued: The next day, I went to the northwest region, in the area of Shahriar, and gathered my colleagues together for lunch. At the same time, rocket attacks continued and military forces were responding to the attacks.

Referring to the role of the military forces stationed in Tehran province, Tavakoli said: In those days, operational forces continued their duties despite continuous attacks. Our close relationship with these forces made us feel their concerns and difficulties closely.

The head of emergency department of Tehran province further pointed to the presence of the President Masoud Mezikian among the emergency forces and said: On one of the days of the war, Mr. Mezikian along with Dr. Haji Mirzaei came to our place. I went to greet him and the president told me in the first sentence that he saw the picture of my shoulder and hand being tied on TV and he came to say hello.

He added: This attention was very valuable for us. Especially since the president personally came to the place to meet the relief forces in war conditions. His presence was done without prior coordination and was unexpected for us.

Pointing to his concern about the presence of the president in a dangerous environment, Tavakli said: I told them why they are walking on the street under these conditions and I emphasized that the presence of the president in such an environment can be dangerous. They replied: "I am like all those who were martyred, what difference does it make?"

The head of the emergency department of Tehran province considered this behavior as a sign of the president's attention to the field forces and stated: Such a presence in those conditions was morale-boosting and showed us that the efforts of the rescue forces are seen.

Appreciating the government's support during the war, Tawakli said: Dr. Haji Mirzaei, Dr. Mohammadi from the office of the Minister of Health and other officials had continuous follow-ups in providing the essentials, medicine and funds needed for the emergency.

He added: The Minister of Health also called me every morning, around 7:30 to 8, and followed up on the situation of the troops and the needs of the complex. Sometimes I told them that I was on the street until 6:00 in the morning and I needed to rest a little, but this continuous follow-up showed the authorities' attention to the conditions of the rescue forces.

The head of emergency department of Tehran province also said about the financial support of the government: On the first day of the war, I returned to the office at around 14:30. At the same time, Dr. Mohammadi called me and asked what they could do to help. In the first step, I asked for 60 billion Tomans of credit to meet emergency needs.

Tavakli continued: I was informed that the required credit will be deposited into the collection account the next morning, and the same thing happened. These supports continued during the war.

In the end, he emphasized the role of the emergency forces in the days of war and noted: In those days, despite the dangers, attacks and mental pressure, our colleagues were with the people and operational forces. The support of officials and the support of the government also played an important role in meeting the needs of the complex and maintaining the operational capacity of the forces.
