Palet Refuses to Perform Without Female Musician; All Iran Tour Dates Canceled

The music group Palet has announced the cancellation of all dates on its tour in protest at being barred from having its female musician perform on stage in some Iranian cities. The decision follows the cancellation of the Lian group's concert in Ahvaz over opposition to female musicians performing. Palet members stressed that they will only take the stage when all seven members have an equal opportunity to perform.

Palette Music Group announced the cancellation of all its tour performances in protest against the banning of its female musicians on stage in some Iranian cities. The decision to cancel the Lian group's concert in Ahvaz was made due to opposition to the presence of female musicians. Palette members have emphasized that they will only go on stage when all seven band members have the same opportunity to perform.

According to Ambassador Arjan, Palette Music Group published a statement on its website on the evening of Tuesday, October 21, announcing that it will cancel all its tour performances in Iran due to preventing the presence of the female musician of the group in some cities.

Part of this statement reads:

After many years, we decided to hold performances all over Iran, city by city, but since we were told in some cities that female musicians are not allowed to go on stage, we are canceling the entire Palette tour until maybe when...

We, the Palette group, are seven people and we will appear on stage when all seven of us can perform equally."

In another part of its statement, referring to the efforts of the past years to provide the possibility of equal activities for women and men in the field of music, this group wrote: "For many years, our hearts have been hoping to see and hear the art of Ms. Tapideh's singing colleagues, and now, after all these years of efforts and protests by male and female musicians, we are witnessing a return to a point where female musicians are not even allowed to perform."

In the statement of the palette, the cities of the performance and the planned dates of the tour have not been announced; However, the group has emphasized that it is not ready to leave one of its members on stage for the concert.

Canceling Lian's concert in Ahvaz; Another example of opposition to the presence of female musicians

Palet's decision has been announced in the context that Lian music group led by Mohsen Sharifian announced the cancellation of their concert in Ahvaz in early October.

This concert was supposed to be held from October 11 to 14, but according to Sharifian, the producer was asked to promise that the female musicians of the band would not be allowed to appear on stage. The leader of the Lian group announced on his personal page that the performance of the group has been canceled after the consultations failed.

In explaining this decision, Sharifian emphasized that female musicians are inseparable members of Lian group and he does not accept their removal from the performance.

Postponement of Alireza Ghorbani's concert in Shandiz

In another event, the performance of Alireza Ghorbani as part of the "Iranem" tour in Razavi's Khandiz, Khorasan, which was supposed to be held in October, was postponed to another time.

The public relations of the General Department of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Khorasan Razavi announced in an announcement that the relevant institutions of the province have agreed to hold this program, but the implementation has been postponed due to "some time considerations". In the published announcement, a more specific explanation about the reason for this decision was not provided; Therefore, this postponement cannot be attributed directly to the same reason that the groups Palet and Liane have announced for canceling their performances.

The emphasis of the national music document on preventing interference in the issuance of licenses

In addition to these events, the provisions of the National Music Document of the Islamic Republic of Iran are once again taken into consideration in the discussion about the obstacles to holding concerts. This document was approved in the session of the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution on February 10, 1402, and its details were published in March of the same year.

In the executive activities section of the document, it is emphasized on "revision of the licensing system and executive guarantee of licenses in the field of music and preventing the interference of real and legal persons in the licensing process by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, especially stage performances".

With the announcement of the cancellation of the Palet tour and the cancellation of Lian's concert in Ahvaz, the issue of how to issue a license and the possibility of all members of music groups appearing on stage has been raised once again. An issue that, along with the provisions of the National Music Document, raises questions about how to implement the approved rules and the extent of authority of different institutions in the process of holding stage performances.
