Iran Dissatisfied with Current Situation Around Strait of Hormuz: Diplomat
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said this is a direct result of America's destructive actions.
Tehran, October 12. /dice/. Ismail Beqaei, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said: Iran is unhappy with the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, which is caused by the "destructive actions" of the United States.
He told reporters: As long as the US continues to destabilize the situation, impose a naval blockade and economic war, security will not return to the Strait of Hormuz.
The United States and Israel started a war against Iran on February 28. In June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding that provided for an immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon. However, in the early morning hours of July 17, the United States resumed massive attacks against Iran for allegedly violating the terms of the agreements made in the Strait of Hormuz. Nearly 25% of the world's oil trade and about 20% of the liquid natural gas trade are carried out through this strait. The US government then effectively signaled that it would stop using large-scale military force against Iran and turn to efforts to stifle the country economically through sanctions. On October 10, US President Donald Trump did not rule out the possibility of new attacks against Iran.
