Bitcoin is currently trading about 35% below its all-time high of $126,000. Nevertheless, traders and investors are anxiously awaiting the answer to one key question: When will Bitcoin regain its all-time high?
Root, a digital currency market analyst, has predicted the possible time for the price to return to its previous peak by examining the historical cycles of Bitcoin. He believes that recurring market patterns can provide clues as to when the price correction will end and Bitcoin will begin to grow again. In this article, relying on a report from BeInCrypto, we examine this analyst's prediction and its reasons.
Predicting Bitcoin's New Ceiling in the Next 8 Months Root, the author of the Bitcoin Strategy newsletter, has compared the current Bitcoin price trend with the past three market cycles. His research shows that in previous cycles, Bitcoin usually reached its all-time high and set new records about two years after the bottom was recorded.
However, the previous cycle was different. The approval of spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) pushed the price of the digital currency to new records much earlier than in previous cycles.
Root says in his analysis: If Bitcoin has a trend similar to previous cycles, it may break its historical record again in about a year instead of two years this time and by June 2027.
The chart of this analyst shows that in the cycles of 2015, 2018 and 2022, the price of Bitcoin has crossed the level equivalent to the previous historical high in the comparative chart after about 350 days of registering the market floor. The 2018 cycle had the fastest return, occurring in about 150 days. Based on this, Root predicts that Bitcoin will reach its all-time high again in the next two to six months.
Why Bitcoin Needs Less Growth to Set New Record?
One of the differences between the current cycle and the previous cycles is the less severe fall of Bitcoin. The price of this digital currency decreased by nearly 52% from its historical peak in October 2025 to the bottom of around $60,000 in 2026.
This is despite the fact that Bitcoin had lost between 77 and 85 percent of its value in the previous three bear markets. For this reason, the price needs to slightly more than double from its $60,000 floor to break the previous record. Also, Bitcoin needs about 53% growth from the price of $82,450 at the time of publication of the report to reach the historical ceiling of $126,000.
In past cycles, Bitcoin was able to experience growth of this size in about a year. This timeframe is also consistent with some historical patterns associated with Bitcoin halving.
Bitcoin Bullish Channel Analysis Another analyst with the nickname Philarct has proposed a long-term target of $170,000 after examining the three-week chart of Bitcoin. According to him, the price of Bitcoin has moved in an upward channel since 2021. In this pattern, price floors and ceilings have gradually increased.
Explaining his analysis, Philarkt said: Bitcoin has been moving in the same channel for years and each time it makes a higher ceiling and floor. The price has just bounced back from the lower channel support and the target for the next historical ceiling on the chart is $170,000. This pattern has not been violated even once.
According to this analyst's chart, after reaching the bottom of 2026, Bitcoin has returned from the support of the ascending channel. Philarctic predicts the price will surpass the previous record of $126,000 in mid-2027 and reach the $170,000 range in 2028. This timing is consistent with Root's prediction of Bitcoin returning to its all-time high in 2027.
What obstacles are keeping Bitcoin away from the historical ceiling?
Both analyzes are based on the assumption that Bitcoin bottomed in 2026 and is now on a recovery path. However, Binance research shows that in four of the past five comparable periods, Bitcoin's price has fallen back and tested its previous bottom after starting to rally.
On the other hand, Bitcoin's growth rate has decreased in successive cycles. The price of this digital currency increased by about 83% from the 2021 cap to the 2025 cap, but reaching the target of $170,000 would mean a growth of about 35% from the previous record. Also, each of the upper and lower lines of Philarchet ascending channel are drawn based on only two price contact points, which can reduce the validity of this pattern.
Some analysts also believe that the four-year pattern of Bitcoin may not be repeated as in the past. Willy Wu has speculated that Bitcoin price cycles are more influenced by long-term cycles of the economy and traditional financial markets, rather than following halving. Root also warned that the increase in interest rates and its impact on economic activities could slow down the process of bitcoin price recovery.
Can Bitcoin Break Its All-Time Record Again?
A review of past cycles suggests that Bitcoin may reach its all-time high of $126,000 again by June 2027. Some analysts have also raised the possibility of price growth up to $170,000 in 2028. However, the realization of these predictions depends on the registration of the final market floor, and the possibility of further price declines and the impact of economic conditions on the trend of Bitcoin remains.
