30% Increase in Nationwide Dam Water Reserves
Water volume in the country's dam reservoirs has risen 30% compared with the same period last year; however, six dams still hold less than 10% of their capacity.
The volume of water in the reservoirs of the country's dams has increased by 30% compared to the same period last year; However, 6 dams still have less than 10% of their water capacity.
Ambassador Arjan-Economic Group: According to the latest statistics from the Iran Water Resources Management Company, the amount of water entering the country's reservoirs from the beginning of the water year (the beginning of October) to the 19th of October was equal to 0.82 billion cubic meters, which compared to last year, which was equal to 0.51 billion cubic meters, has increased by 62%. Also, the total output of the country's dams has increased by 39% compared to the previous year.
The volume of water available in the reservoirs is now 23.31 billion cubic meters, which has increased by 30% compared to the previous year, which was 17.99 billion cubic meters. Also, the volume of dams in the country is 45% until this date.
But the condition of some of the country's important dams shows that in 6 dams, the percentage is still less than 10%; So that Lar, Dosti, Targ, Panzde Khordad, Barzo and Saveh dams still have less than 10% of water, and in contrast to the three dams, Jegin, Ilam and Azadi, their filling level is about 100%.
Also, the height of the total rainfall in the country is equal to 4.2 mm. This amount of rainfall shows 3.8 mm in similar long-term periods and 1.6 mm in the same period of last water year.
Emphasizing on the necessity of realistic management of the country's challenges, Masoud Bizikian said: "More than ever, we need capable, knowledgeable and motivated people with the spirit of Basij and Jihad."
We must always keep in mind the fact that we live in a country whose annual rainfall is much lower than the global average; So that the per capita rainfall in Iran is estimated to be about a quarter or even a fifth of the global average, and this issue does not paint a promising perspective for the state of the country's water resources.
The latest statistics show that despite the relative increase in water volume, only 57% of the country's dam capacity has been filled, and the difference in water input and output has intensified concerns about the continuation of water scarcity.
