A very large oil tanker (VLCC) belonging to the United Arab Emirates was hit by a projectile today in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz, Ossint announced.

According to the received information, the oil tanker MT ST 3 with international registration number IMO 9220964 was targeted in the Strait of Hormuz today, October 16, around 17:45 GMT.

It is noteworthy that the automatic identification system (AIS) of this vessel has been off since about 18 days ago.

The last signal received from this vessel dates back to around August 26, and after that no data of its position has been transmitted. The silence of AIS in the situation where the tensions in the Strait of Hormuz have reached their peak increases the uncertainties surrounding this incident.
