The news broke earlier today via a report from Deadline that the two actors have been confirmed. This is the first casting news we've received about the highly anticipated adaptation, and it's the most impressive yet. The heart of Rebecca Yaros' fantasy romance series is the relationship between these two characters, so their performance will make or break the series.
Prime Video has found its main stars for "The Fourth Wing," the TV series adaptation of Rebecca Yaros' best-selling novel.
According to sources close to the production, Esther McGregor has been cast as Violet Sorengil, and Emilio Sacharya will portray Xaden Riorson.
You may know Esther McGregor for her role as Isabelle in A24's Little Girl, where she worked alongside Nicole Kidman and Antonio Banderas. She also appeared in an episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi as Theta Grieg, the pink-haired spice seller, which is notable because she's actually Ewan McGregor's daughter.
Emilio Sakraya is perhaps best known for his role as Givar Hajbi in the 2022 film Rheingold. You may also recognize her from her time as JC in the first season of Netflix's Warrior Nun.
For those not already familiar with the Fourth Wing books (aka the Empyrean series), let's quickly define who these characters are: Violet Sorengil is the main protagonist of the books and is often referred to as a beautiful but weak girl with a deadly side. Xaden Riorsen is portrayed as a dark, powerful, and misunderstood man with too many secrets. Both of these characters attend the Basgiat War College, where they learn to control the powers given to them by the giant dragons.
Are you excited for a Fourth Wing TV series?
Whether or not these actors can portray these two characters properly remains to be seen, but they certainly seem to live up to their book descriptions. Since this is the most important relationship in the series, they must have great chemistry to be able to portray the love/hate relationship that makes the first book of the fourth wing so good.
The Fourth Wing TV series currently has no release date attached, but we already know that Meredith Uriel is serving as showrunner and executive producer. Rebecca Yaros will also executive produce the project alongside Michael B. Jordan's Outlier Society.
While fans wait for the TV adaptation to become a reality, Rebecca Yaros is currently working on the fourth book in the series. He has also collaborated on several tabletop adaptations for the increasingly popular franchise. Recently, Yaros published a standalone novel, Threshing Day, which depicts the perspectives of various other characters. The day they caught their dragon.
