Talvari: Khorasan South Karate Is Stagnant and Needs Program-Based Planning

Birjand – The head of the Khorasan South General Department of Sports and Youth, criticizing the state of karate in the province, said that karate in South Khorasan is stagnant and rarely seen at the community level.

According to Mehr reporter, Amirhossein Talwari said this Wednesday evening at the annual general meeting of the South Khorasan Karate Board, which was held under his chairmanship: supporting sports boards and infrastructure development is one of the sports priorities of South Khorasan province.

Targeted planning for karate development

He emphasized the necessity of targeted planning, improving the technical level of athletes and developing karate at the provincial level.

Head of the General Department of Sports and Youth of South Khorasan, referring to the valuable capacities of karate in the province, stated: Identifying and developing sports talents, supporting talented and champion athletes, strengthening the position of coaches and referees, and paying attention to the development of this discipline in the cities should be prioritized in the plans of the provincial karate board.

The need to develop operational plans

Talwari also emphasized the necessity of constructive interaction of the Karate Board with the General Directorate of Sports and Youth, optimal use of existing capacities and formulation of action plans to improve the status of karate in the province in national competitions.

The head of the General Administration of Sports and Youth of South Khorasan considered synergy, managerial coherence and continuous efforts to grow and improve the sports of the province as effective factors in the success of the sports boards and called for serious follow-up of the planned plans and goals of this board.

Stating that karate players have usually participated in many competitions, Talwari added: "The reality is that our karate is tired, and with respect to the young head of this board, I must say that the performance presented does not match the expectations that have been created."

Referring to the state of martial arts in the province, he said: the performance of disciplines such as taekwondo is seen more than karate; Therefore, we demand a more active presence of this delegation and develop a comprehensive and complete program.

The need for sports boards to be program-oriented

Stating that we are aware of all the existing challenges and problems, Talwari added: All sports boards should be program-oriented and participation in national competitions should not be considered as the criterion for the optimal performance of a sports board.

He continued by raising the question that despite the existence of 1,420 insured athletes in karate, what is the contribution of the province in the country in this field? He stated: In this field, more efforts should be made to develop the championship sport so that at least two athletes from South Khorasan are in the national team.
