Advanced Radiotherapy Unit at Razi Hospital in Rasht Nears Operation

Rasht – The head of the Razi Hospital Rasht Educational and Research Treatment Center, referring to the completion of the physical installation of the radiotherapy unit, said the advanced device is nearing operation.

According to the Mehr reporter, Mohammad Haghighi Sobh, talking to the media on Monday morning, referring to the development process of the center's treatment equipment, stated: Setting up an advanced radiotherapy center is a specialized and multi-stage process that, in addition to providing and installing the device, requires the creation of standard infrastructure, technical tests, calibration, and obtaining legal permits.

He added: Fortunately, with the efforts and follow-up of the hospital's management team, relevant specialists and engineers, the stages of building a dedicated space for the device and its physical installation have been completed, and now we are in the stage of completing the infrastructure and going through the specialized stages before operation.

Installation of Elektai device; An important step in the development of cancer treatment services

Referring to the features of the new device, the head of the research and educational center of Razi Hospital in Rasht said: "The Elktai radiotherapy machine is one of the advanced equipments in the field of radiation therapy, which after completing the start-up procedures and receiving the necessary permits, can increase the capacity of providing specialized cancer treatment services in this center."

Haghighi stated that setting up such a device requires providing special technical and safety conditions, and clarified: One of the most important steps in the implementation of this plan was the construction of a dedicated space or bunker with the necessary protection standards. In the design and construction of this space, the requirements related to protection against ionizing radiation and the safety of patients, employees and people in the surrounding environment have been taken into consideration.

He continued: Creating such an infrastructure, along with the provision and installation of the device, requires extensive technical and executive coordination, and fortunately, an important part of this path has been completed with the efforts of the hospital complex and executive agents.

85% improvement of the device's dedicated space

The head of Razi Rasht Hospital, referring to the latest state of preparation of the space related to new equipment, said: the physical progress of the space dedicated to new devices, including the sections related to imaging and treatment plans, is different, and the space referred to for the installation of the device has about 85% physical progress.

Haghighi added: In this section, the completion of some infrastructure and executive details, including flooring, wall covering, electricity and water facilities, ventilation and air conditioning systems, and the installation of protective doors, which are being followed up with the coordination of implementing companies and technical agents.

Emphasizing the importance of providing standard environmental conditions for the performance of advanced equipment, he stated: Controlling environmental conditions, including temperature and humidity, as well as completing infrastructure facilities are requirements for safe and optimal operation of this equipment.

calibration and safety approvals; Final stages of setup

Describing the remaining steps to start the operation of the device, Haghigi said: After the physical installation, the specialized setup process, calibration and technical tests must be done with full precision. Also, the necessary coordination between the radiotherapy machine and the imaging equipment used in the treatment process, including the CT scan machine, must be done.

He added: receiving approvals from the Atomic Energy Organization is one of the most important steps before operation. The relevant experts should check the protection status of the space and the amount of possible radiation leakage to the surrounding environment and confirm the safety of the complex. Also, the results of specialized tests and calibration of the device must be evaluated according to the criteria.

The head of Razi Rasht Hospital's Medical Education and Research Center noted: Part of the administrative and technical correspondence and coordination of this process is underway, and after completing the steps, receiving the necessary approvals and issuing the final license, it will be possible to accept patients.

Referring to the time estimate for the implementation of the remaining steps, he said: Considering the required measures, we hope that if things progress according to the plan and the legal and technical procedures are completed on time, this complex will be ready to provide services in the next three to four months. Of course, the exact time to start accepting patients depends on the completion of specialized processes and the issuance of final permits.

Razi Hospital; Reference center for providing radiotherapy services in the region

Referring to the activity history of the Radiotherapy Department of Razi Rasht Hospital, Haghighi said: This department started its activity in 2013 and 2014 and has provided radiation therapy services to cancer patients using various equipments.

He added: Some of the equipments in this center have been operating for about 10-15 years and due to the need to modernize and improve medical technologies, the provision of new equipment can play an important role in improving the capacity of providing services.

The head of Razi Rasht Hospital stated that the patients of this center are not only from Gilan province, and clarified: patients from the western regions of Mazandaran province, including Nowshehr, Chalus, Tankabon and Ramsar, also come to this center for medical services. For this reason, strengthening the infrastructure and developing specialized equipment can be effective in better responding to the treatment needs of patients in these areas.

Development of advanced services for cancer patients

At the end, Haghigi appreciated the efforts of specialists, engineers, executive agents and groups who cooperated in the implementation of this project and said: Setting up advanced medical equipment, especially in the field of radiotherapy, requires continuous coordination between different departments and strict follow-up of technical and administrative procedures.

He expressed his hope that by completing the remaining measures and receiving the necessary permits, the new radiotherapy machine of Razi Hospital in Rasht will be put into service in the near future and the development of specialized cancer treatment services will be provided for the people of Gilan province and neighboring areas.
