"Hardcore" star Hudson Williams, "The Hangover"'s Zach Galifianakis and "This Is The End" actor Jay Baruchel have signed up to be grilled by a panel of neurotic and autistic interviewers for the six-episode series.

The cast also includes three-time Olympic gold medalist Marie-Philip Poulin, Miss Universe Canada, who appeared in the Netflix and APTN comedy North of the North, and singer-songwriter Lights. The forum began life in France on France Télévisions as Les Rencontres du Papotin and has since spawned back-to-back editions in countries such as the UK, Spain and Australia. Guests across editions include Camille Cotin, President Emmanuel Macron, Antonio Banderas, Michael Sheen, David Tennant, Stephen Fry and Sam Neill.

Each edition features an audience of autistic and neurotic interviewers who collectively question the celebrity in an interview. Formatted in Canada, the interviewers from the first season will return alongside other new interviewers.

"The response to the first season of The Assembly has been incredible," said Jennifer Dettman, executive director of Unscripted Content, CBC. "Our interviewers bring fresh, honest energy to the traditional talk show, and we're excited to feature more engaging conversations with some of the most famous national and international celebrities."

In Canada, Small Army Entertainment produces the series for CBC. The first season won the Best Canadian Film Director Award, the Golden Sheaf Award at the Yorkton Film Festival, three Telly Awards and was nominated for the Banff Rocky Award.

"This season of The Assembly is full of surprises and promises, delivering even more heart, humor and authentic dialogue that only happens on shows like this," added executive producer Stephen Sawchuk. Sean De Vries, co-executive producer, added: "Returning for a second season shows that the series has resonated with audiences. It's encouraging to have a successful show that thrives on genuine human connection.

For the CBC, Sally Catto is the General Manager of Entertainment. Dettman is the executive director of Unscripted Content. And Susan Taylor is in charge of production.
